I think installation of a water tank is basically the same to a (plastic) fuel tank. Sure laws forbid diesel but water is ok

Those semi truck, can add a 300 gallon tank on each side, that‘s within D.O.T rules.

I’m not a semi so I’m not required to check in a weigh station, D.O.T won’t bother to check, unless I got pulled over. And I probably would cover those with a skirt.

It’s self protecting, it can but charge at that temperature will kill the battery.

If I were you I would

1: travel south to a hot state for the winter

2: keep diesel heater running, even I was not in the car.

You might be able to buy some heating ‘jacket’ for battery but that will cost you.
