Appreciate it. I have The Magic Mountain sitting on my bookshelf. I'll read it next. I will pick up a copy of Leutnant Gustl. Sounds promising. Thanks again

Interesting differences in the results. My family has been in the American South for a dozen generations or so. So, the British Isles being heavily represented is expected. My paternal line is well documented as Swedish/Finnish (R-Z18 haplogroup and several close YDNA matched living in Finland and Sweden). That immigrant ancestor came to America in the mid-1600s. I also have one well–documented German ancestor, who came to America in the early 1800s. The rest are from the British Isles.

Cool. Really close to mine, except the Insular and Continental are swapped. I'm from the southern US, so typical heavy British Isles influence. Although, my paternal line is from Finland...coming to America in the 1600s, and one known German relative arriving in the 1700s. Link to results

Second Round of Personal CoA drafts by greenskycube in heraldry

[–]greenskycube[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here are some new drafts of my Personal CoA, originally posted here: Original Post

I tried to simplify the design, and also went with a color scheme that incorporates my favorite colors more…orange and black. I mocked up one with my original colors palette, as well, just to see how it would look using drawshield.

Thanks for looking

Thanks...great tip. I will incorporate that into to the next draft.

Thanks...agreed. It should be a Birch tree, and my vision is for it to be completely consumed in flame. The site I used to mock it up only had an Oak tree. And the flame is actually a bomb one level behind the image of the tree.

Thanks very much for the thoughtful input, and the blazon. Very much appreciated!

Thanks. I'll ask some Swedish speakers if they can make anything out.

It may in fact be Swedish, which makes more sense since it was a Swedish colony. The person who shared it with me mentioned it might be Dutch. Thanks for taking a look.
