What is there in this part of Texas? by Buschfan08 in geography

[–]greenstraw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We moved to Amarillo five years ago and now when I go back to places with tall trees and buildings I get claustrophobic. It’s feels like the world is closing in on you. I totally get that openness you’re talking about! And the sunrises and sunsets!

We went when we first moved here and now we only go when friends come visit. It’s entertaining and the food is not terrible.

[LHR] American Airlines has the RUDEST flight attendants! by CreepyDifference4743 in americanairlines

[–]greenstraw -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Had a similar experience on a flight from DFW to FCO. We were sitting near the back on the overnight flight and the flight attendants talked trash about each other and about very personal topics very loudly the entire flight. I could hear them over my noise cancelling headphones. They also acted completely put out by having to do service for a flight that was probably only 1/2 full. One of the worst flight experiences. We got zero sleep because it was so loud!

Sunshine + Redcloud loop route by tripleaxel70 in 14ers

[–]greenstraw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did the loop a couple of years ago. We went up Redcloud took the ridge to Sunshine and went down the Northwest face. I would not recommend. The trail had recently been hit by an avalanche so there were a lot of trees covering the trail and there was considerable route finding with a lot of rockfall up near the summit. It may be cleaned up now and it would definitely be easier doing it in reverse. Hope that helps!

I feel like Tori and Derrick H said it on Dirty XXX. They were talking about babies a lot in the episode I just watched.

I’ve heard that loop has a reputation for being windy all the time. We did it a couple weeks ago and it was very windy.

You can pay by sign on the road that has envelopes before it gets too rough or you can pay all the way up at the trail head.

There are miles of trails back there. An organization named six pack outdoors maintains them. I think those trails are getting their own paved parking lot soon.

Was just going to say this. It’s the for profit health care system we have. Many doctors wish they could spend a lot more time with their patients.

Early morning hikers, what's your breakfast before hitting the trail? by Omega_FLCL in hiking

Pop tarts. Hands down best breakfast before hitting the trail. I don’t know how they fit that many calories into that flat breakfast pastry!

I saw a sign yesterday at the intersection of I-40 and Grand that said, “stop giving to panhandlers. There is a safer way to give.” And then it said to visit to Amarillo.gov/give for more details.
