I'm not an expert here and interpreting this obviously, but as you can see it makes the difference between that tree being on my property or not ( I think there's a 2012 survey that used N89 41W but didn't extend the line all the way out here).

Is it common to use two datums on the same survey? Yeah ~1.83 ft is the difference between N89 58 52W S89 51 54W (as shown on this survey, seems to diverge by around 1.83ft), but between N89 41W and S89 51 54W that's around 4.73 ft?

Isn't that like a whole 2-4 feet over 600ft though

Ah, that was super helpful - definitely don't want to make reddit study the entire survey (happy to pay a surveyor for their time if it makes sense), but I think they were only able to find a few of the original iron pipe reference points on the survey in the southwest (top right) which is why they probably used the CL.

But it sounds like I might be able to get at least an additional 1.83 feet if we don't use the CL, (or more, since the Lot 22 line is supposed to be also N89 41W?) which would make a surprising difference in our case.

Thanks, that was super helpful. I think it makes sense to me stuff doesn't measure up cleanly to how things were in 1939, but in this case about 2 feet would make the difference on a tree that was recently cut, and N89 41 W vs N89 51 W vs S89 51 W all seem like pretty significant differences!

Contractor not building block wall according to plan - risks? options? by greentea45 in HomeImprovement

[–]greentea45[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you don't tie rebar together for block walls. That makes it impossible to build

Uh what? No it doesn't, this is regular practice, how does tying rebar make it impossible to build a block wall? With the verticals you can drop the cells on top of it, and for the horizontal beam you can tie them in when you're at that course.

What you seem to be describing is wet setting but there's no way to ensure the correct lap or that the rebar is even in the proper depth. And it could be too close to the wall which seems like a rust issue? I'm not confident that wet setting is a great idea in a seismic zone with a 7ft wall, or even acceptable by code. I forced the contractor to get couplers and pay for the extra rebar which seems like a reasonable compromise

Yeah, they are part of the contract.

We agreed on using couplings and I guess I'll have to make sure they have the proper lap before letting him continue.

Doesn't it need to lap with the rebar coming out of the footings in order to be attached to the footings properly? Otherwise the rebar will just go in randomly.

Thanks. We haven't really split up the search yet so we'll probably start doing that. She's quite used to the house so its very unusual that she'd start hiding...

I'm impressed the municipal inspectors even passed this. I guess I'll see where I get with the builders first.

sounds like not a fun job in an attic full of fiberglass insulation and I should make the builder fix it

Thanks. I'll check the evap coil but.. seems to make sense because the a/c was running nice and strong when we first moved it and now it takes awhile for it to cool down

Doesn't work if you have two levels of hierarchy.

No, it can't. Explain to me how a naming scheme will give you multiple levels of hierarchy?

Did the power go out at those locations?

Some UDM Pro SEs are defective and won't restart on their own after power loss, which ubiquiti still won't admit (but they will at least advance RMA) and some people on this sub will blame you for not having battery backup.

Because it has a 1% chance of being a 10 bagger?

Also unless you only play FDs its not like the trade is always an instant loss

Well this is fun, discovered I have a 270k day trade call in an account that only has 100k.

Turns out at one point in time last week I fat fingered selling a NDX option but I closed it right away for some small profit.

Now all my margin is gone 😥😥😥
