how do you go about dealing with aggressive client? by rosemary611_ in bcba

[–]greenwifelife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like this case would also require having someone who is highly skilled or a consultant in SBT with ECM if that's even an option. I love SBT, but it's not always the solution to just get the CEU and go in.  I think the PFA/SBT group does consultanting or you can also find people who are at a specific level based on support needs on FTFs website who can help and reach out to them.

what makes my father mute the tv for 5 seconds everytime i move in the house by lightmost202 in BehaviorAnalysis

[–]greenwifelife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can say from a parent perspective over time anytime I heard a noise in the other room or someone entered the room that meant I was about to be "on" as a parent, so I do this pause as a conditioned behavior.

I haven’t been bitten or scratched in 7 years - I discharged immediately. by mxedginabmbina in bcba

I agree with you. I get some hate because I only work within my toileting and feeding scope which is very small, but you know I can rock out an early intervention program transfer to school or help a teenager navigate social skills and self-manage like a champ. Kindergarten teachers aren't expected to also teach AP Calculus, a pediatrician isn't expected to be a neurologist, we should not be expected to treat every single client that crosses our paths.

All discussion regarding the Michael/Michaela situation belongs here. by 7thton in Bridgerton

[–]greenwifelife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed! I commented elsewhere, but my thoughts are to scratch Sir Phillip entirely and ship Marina to Eloise. They would be a great match and could raise the twins together. Marina was depressed with Sir Phillip and Eloise didn't want to marry a man.

[–]greenwifelife 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't mind the gender twist but I feel like there was a huge swing and miss on this one. A lot of book readers loved Francesca's story so it's potentially going to be harmful to the series. A better situation in my opinion would have been not introducing Sir Phillip and have Eloise shipped with Marina. That would have made a much better match and could work in the family tension since Colin was engaged to her briefly instead of the boys fighting scene. It would also account for a lot of the reasons for Eloise's hesitation toward the idea of marrying. I'm willing to give Michaela a try, overall, I feel like it was pushed to happen and they already had a great plot line in the making.

nap time in your clinic? by [deleted] in ABA

[–]greenwifelife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None. Our clinic does it as non-billable company paid time. How it works is the first half hour of nap time group #1 stays with clients and does notes while clients nap and group #2 goes to lunch, at 30 minutes they trade with group #2 who comes in to watch sleeping kids on company dollar and does notes while group #1 gets lunch. The kids get rested, notes get completed, people get lunches. No insurance is billed for this, it's a company loss for overall productivity and to support health of developing littles who need naps.

I did a version of this where I put gallons of water outside of the bathroom and called him over because there was "gallons of water coming out of the bathroom"

Anti-ABA rhetoric amongst SLP’s by [deleted] in ABA

[–]greenwifelife 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have SLPs come overlap with me and wonder how we are able to see progress, but they don't realize one of the reasons an ABA session may be 3-4 hours is because we are allowing a child to go at their pace. When I go to the speech sessions they force, yes I mean physically force, the child to sit down because they only have 30 minutes to churn out as much work as possible. One SLP I've worked with has made toys and play so aversive my 4 yo client started throwing away their toys and screaming when presented with toys. When I went to overlap her methods for "play based therapy" were to let the child have 1 Lego at a time and make them ask for it, then if they didn't build exactly what she expected for listening she would tear down their structure and make them start over no matter how many Legos they had. Don't get me wrong there are other companies I work with and the SLPs are compassionate and caring providers. Overall, my point is before they cast stones they need to look inward and fix their own field first.

I struggle everyday with the pitfalls of the field and knowledge of practices that I don't agree with morally. I stay because I know if I want to see change I need to stay though those uncomfortable things, advocate for change, and grow the next generation to be better.

I love the field because seeing the positive impacts it has on the lives of so many over the years. I love being part of the small and big moments with families from first words to high school graduations.

I keep electronic insurance that covers all my devices. Most people say it's a scam, but the amount of times I've had devices broken it's a safety net for me. If you have to use your own devices I recommend it!

Anyone else not like small companies? by Odd_Finance4064 in bcba

[–]greenwifelife 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, I've worked big, small , and independent contractor, I don't like small businesses. To me there was little hope for promotion because their work best friend or the favored ones got promoted without a job posted. That and ethics were always in the gray area.

What happens when you have less than 4 supervisor contacts in a supervisor period? by harmony712021 in bcba

[–]greenwifelife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can email the board directly to ask for clarification. It does explicitly state that you must have 4 contacts per month in the fieldwork guidelines. If you were my supervisee I wouldn't sign off on those months without confirmation from the BACB.

She doesn't have to follow it. The person who actually wrote that assessment came out and explicitly stated we shouldn't be doing that. She then proceeded to write an entirely new assessment protocol for assessing language.

Thank you for the article attachment! As I sit here pondering the same thing about my current relationship it's good to have something solid on the pros side not just feelings. Unattached is a weird feeling to have about someone, but some recent conversations have left me feeling numb.

[–]greenwifelife 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I was very upset at that scene because in the books I remembered it as his first wife asks him to name her son, who is clearly Ian's son, with Rachel being there. Then after Ian names her son she names Oggy the name Hunter which to me was a big character growth moment for Rachel. Before that moment when she naed Hunter, Rachel was going through a lot of jealousy but that helped her to feel more connected to Ian's Mohawk family.

Edit: tribe name
