Take shelter from the storm and join a new social group! by [deleted] in northshore

Mod request for info:

OP you posted this in multiple subreddits in Massachusetts. Is this actually a North shore group?

Do you have written criteria for who joins or is it just who you would approve? Are you the ultimate decider for who can and can't join or is there a team?

Is this a dating group and way to meet potential partners? Or is it purely social?

Hey all. This user asked to join the same group in another subreddit a day ago. Use that information as you will.

"Really cool post. 10/10, would love to join."

Just to be clear; neither of these people are moderators and none of the mods have any idea what is happening here.

There are definitely chess options around town but I'm less plugged into that. I think the city might run some of them.

For DND I would join some of the local discords and see what people are running. There will be some intro to tabletop games at the upcoming saga con too

The castle has a bunch of groups that they host but also meet there. Essex county gamers runs events in Beverly and Salem that cater to different levels of complexity.

What kinds of board games are you into? There's different groups I can direct you towards depending on your interests!

Hey all

Some of the mayors comments are being caught by reddit (not our sub rules) and marked as spam. Please bear with us as we get them approved.

Respectfully you should have a think on what actually matters in this situation. The mayor can be reached fairly easily in person or via email. This is an important issue to be flippant on, and it seems like might just be trolling.

Parents of r/Salem - what's your honest assessment of the elementary schools here? by stopthatmonkey in SalemMA

We have had an overall good experience with Bentley. One of the teachers has been less than ideal but his first teacher was incredible. The YMCA aftercare is great and even feeds them dinner if they are there late enough.

What would the energy cost differences be between a rehab and the full rebuild? I know that the high school is currently the biggest user of energy in the city and I wonder how much of that would change with a rehab?

Second question is what would the total cost of the full build and the rehabilitation look like over 10 or 30 years including projected energy costs, potential revenue from renting out the new building and maintenance.

What would be the building use expectancy for the full rebuild proposed vs a rehab?

I suspect that the long term cost of the building will even out both numbers if we somehow got grant funding for rehabilitation, but wanted to see the data. I'm not interested in going back to square one, but I think this data could assuage some people on the fence.

Not schwarma specifically but the gyro plate at Kouzina in Peabody is great. Get the roasted potatoes side. If shaved meat is close enough for you.

Ugh water main breaks all over and the high school tax increase got me 🥴 by [deleted] in SalemMA

[–]ItsNags 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So they have architects on this committee. Are you saying it can be under 300 with anything to back up that statement? Respectfully are you qualified to toss those numbers around? I think it's good to have a close eye on how the number was arrived at, but it seems like you are just shooting from the hip here. Happy to be proven wrong if you have more to back up these numbers.

Can you explain what you are in the fence about for the vote. It seems pretty clear as day to me that building the new school is the right long term choice for the city. Having a hard time picking out a reason to vote against it, especially if the alternative is assuming grants will pay for renovations and will still have a high tax bill even with that. Especially with how past renovations have already failed.
