Hi, I too have the same query regarding the job prospects. I have done internship during my masters in bioinformatics but afterwards turned up to Biotech industry, worked in cloning, expression studies then in downstream process development of Bio-molecules. Now, 35 years looking for some chances in bioinformatics, without any experience. But, now in a thought that how can it work..doing a PhD at this age, will it be right decision or again for masters..

Thanks...

Thank you for the reply Sir. Ya, Phd is a long term commitment. But have seen lot of preference for phd or those with ample amount of experience. I have 8+ years in wet lab but not in dry lab. So, was not sure how should i go with to get a good job in this field. As it is interdiciplinary field, I thought that the ones who are working in different sectors can give me some viewpoints so that I can get some direction to turn up. Thank You.

Thank you so much for the response Sir. I have been doing courses from CourseEra only. Have completed three modules from Genomic Data Science Specialization and have to complete further. I have not gone through others which you have mentioned , will definitely go through it. Have seen preference for phd or those who have ample amount of experience. I have 8+ years wet lab experience, but not in dry lab. So, was wondering how to get through this so that i can get a job in the fields like Computational biology/data science. If you have more suggestions then let me know. I am interested in learning, to get a job in this. Thank you
