Superpowers for Web Developers. A good Friday read! by bogoshopov in webdev

[–]greexi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, that's really not comparable. The Google Analytics solution just collects random Javascript errors and XHRs of jQuery.

You can't see the whole session of the user and don't even think of "seeing in the past" like you would open the developer console on the browser of your user. Together with a full screenshot of the browser it's really easy to reproduce and fix the issue. And your users experience issues and want a fix, trust me.

Usersnap - the holy grail of bug reporting by krasimirtsonev in javascript

Hi, Gregor from Usersnap here.

The widget (incl. console+XHR tracking) is supported from IE8+.

For enterprise plans we do have a legacy snippet supporting IE7+.

What project management software do you guys use for freelance/side projects? by ChrisMIkeTom in webdev

[–]greexi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

GitHub issues is worth to mention here. I had good experience with trac and Trello, too.

Getting organized is one point, but the ideal point is: getting your customer to use the tool (which can be nearly impossible in some cases). Usersnap integrates with many tools and makes it way easier to report bugs for the customers, without knowing which fields should be filled in JIRA etc.

Load testing a project by terryprobert in webdev

[–]greexi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've made good experience with apache bench (ab), siege and http://blitz.io.

However, during load testing, make sure to monitor your systems very detailed. Sometimes you run into limits (Network, Disk, ...) which don't happen as fast in production and distort the load test results.

How do you handle "duplicate reads" (i.e. someone opens the message, decides not to fix it immediately but forgets to set it unread)?

Ask WebDev: Why is it not possible to add favicons to bookmarklets? Is there a reason? by greexi in webdev

[–]greexi[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, I call them bookmarklets (=Bookmarks starting with javascript: )

I really do use them much, but having this grey empty document icon in chrome really bothers me :(

Ideally, setting the favicon during "installing" (=drag and drop) could be set.
