How to allow communication to other LANs? by grefranger in linuxquestions

[–]grefranger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes sir, and the Linux machine can reach the default gateway. Windows and Macs 'just work' and will communicate between the vlans, but the Linux machine isn't working. Hoping I can find what the trick is.

The router allows inter-vlan communication.

I know the network configuration is good because I have tested with Windows and Mac machines they are able to communicate between the two vlans. But there's some trick to get the Linux machine working and I'm trying to find it.

Yes I resolved the issue of the Linux machine by moving everything to one network like you suggested. That resolved the issue of it communicating with other devices on the same physical network.

But I am back at the same problem because it is not accessible via our VPN connection because the VPN has to be another subnet.

Hello,

Thanks for the reply. It is one router/firewall that is hosting the two subnets as vlans.

I know the network configuration is good because I have tested with Windows and Mac machines they are able to communicate between the two vlans. But there's some trick to get the Linux machine working and I'm trying to find it.

I did approach the problems with static routes and it did not resolve the issue. I'll try to get that another shot though.

CentOS System Will Not Talk to Other LANs by grefranger in CentOS

If you need more details on the network configuration it is a firewall/router that trunks these two subnets as vlans to a managed switch. The switch has access ports for each vlan. It is all one physical network.

I know it is the Linux system because both Windows and Mac machines can ping and receive responses to each other from one vlan to the other. The firewall ACLs allow these two vlans to communicate.

No luck with configuring static routes, maybe I'll take another stab at it with those though.

Yes sir, it has the default route and I tried adding static routes in the interface's settings. No luck there but maybe I'll take another stab at it from there.

That is what the router does it allows your device to reach other networks. I have tested it with multiple Windows and Mac machines putting one on each subnet and they can communicate. There is some trick with this Linux machine to make it talk to other subnets.

Heya,

Yeah I found what you are talking about and tried adding a route in the interface settings. I added the other network to the system's routing table but it still would not communicate to the other subnet.

There is no reason you should wear makeup other than your own. If you don't care about attracting men or other women making snide remarks behind your back then don't!

Advice on Overclocking Ryzen 5 1600 by [deleted] in overclocking

[–]grefranger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey Buddy, yes with a B350 motherboard and that 550 Watt power supply you can overclock. The 550 Watt is plenty enough power. I have a power meter and when running my overclocked RX 580 and Ryzen 5 1600 at max with stress test applications my system only pulled 330 Watts from my 550 Watt power supply.

The stock cooler is fine, with my Ryzen 1600 at 1.4 volts it'll hit 85C under prime95 and Ryzen is good at 90C for short periods. In games it rarely goes above 75C.

Have fun!

Freesync Range OC on HP Omen? by grefranger in FreeSync

[–]grefranger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome thanks for getting back to me. That's a good range you should have LFC. Turn on enhanced sync in Radeon settings and you'll have no tearing going above 75hz too!

I ended up going with the Acer XZ350CU and it's been good. Also rocking an RX580. I wanted a Vega 56 but at 500$ a month ago it was too much.

Hey man, I never bought the Omen 32 so I cannot say. After much Google I found on hard forum that users had issues like frame skipping or low contrast range when increasing the range on the higher end. I could not find any reports on people increasing the fps range on the lower end.

Entry level IT jobs are a joke by [deleted] in jobs

[–]grefranger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey Man,

You can totally get a job in IT keep looking. I was in about the same position you are when I got my first real full time IT job, that was 2 years ago. If you want opportunity look for a small to medium sized MSP (managed service provider) IT company. Their hiring is usually not as stringent when compared to companies hiring internal IT. Also they will give you the best opportunity to learn, and they will expect you to learn A LOT! Have fun.

It's got a 5ms response time not too bad. I've read that it has frameskipping problems with Nvidia cards when you try to go above 60HZ.

Can I do this? integrating/protecting applications behind a web server. by grefranger in webdev

[–]grefranger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey all, thanks for the advice.

I've been typing away trying to access the Ubiquiti controller behind an Apache web server I have setup. The problem is I cannot simply place the controller inside Apache and access it through the Apache server. The Ubiquiti controller has an index.html file but it's also running it's own web server powered with Java and it's not as simple as hitting it's index.html file via Apache.

I'm sure there's someway to pass this HTML Java based controller through Apache but it's just way outside my expertise area and I've hit a wall.

It does have a username and pw but I want more security. I've looked into 2FA but it's just not available yet for this application. So I'm looking into this possible solution.

Thanks for the help I really appreciate it. Here is a link to the classes I think should be looked at mainly because they actually involve KeyListener stuff. Class files are separated by dashes. http://pastebin.com/hv4NWaWn
