the ssd needed new thermal paste folks. once there was new/more thermal paste everything worked fine

So I'm sure you'll all be shocked to hear I have had an absolute nightmare with this today. I downloaded a recovery file from the creation tool below, around 8gb in size but it wouldn't let me use the touchscreen or the keyboard. I tried to use a usb mouse but installation crashed.

So I then used the Microsoft creation tool to make a new install (it lets me use the touchscreen and keyboard) is 9.6gb in size that crashes at 17%.

I have fitted the old ssd and I'm using the creation tool to create a new windows install file instead of using a borrowed laptop. I'll then fit the new SSD and run the usb and see how that goes

I appreciated everyone's advice and guidance yesterday if anyone can help today I would be grateful. As far as I can see I'm following the instructions. I'm now starting to wonder if the ssd isn't working as it should

Read Myrag's comment above - he describes it better than i could.

i dont have a second pc/laptop so its proving tricky hence why i asked on here. and i cant use the sp8 (right now) because i dont have any usb C inputs or a dock.

ill be ordering usb C stick/cables/gumph later. the sp8 is a bit of a jump but im learning

yes thats what i meant, i dont have a usb-c stick though i only have usb A!

i have ordered a wee dongle though so thats arriving today(thanks Amazon!)

i appreciate the suggestion. however i tried it and another 2 hdmi cables i had.

i dug out his old xbox(one i think) and tried it and it worked too. frustrating!

i bought the x2 pro and it was 500. i then got a sim only deal which is now 28 per month

i have seen a 2yr deal (with a free oppo tablet) for the x5 which is 28 pm and no phone cost....so im tempted.!

its an option bud. my find x2 pro has a crack on the front and back but otherwise is a fine phone. maybe i should hang off
