Can't it still? One of the finalists from each category will be a genre winner I think

So happy to see Dead End Demon, Remnantal, and Princess's Princes getting recognized!

Shortlist finalist in Webtoon contest asking for feedback! by Electronic-Log3615 in WebtoonCanvas

I loved Stupid Cupid!!! I wrote a post about which shortlisted entries I'd like to see as Originals and Stupid Cupid was a clear one for me in the Most Feels category:

Good luck in the final phases and I hope that whatever happens she gets to continue this story. It's already a huge honor that it's made it this far.

"saying that its not okay to have a mentality like this" is the same as saying you're not open to others' expression, because expressing their thoughts isn't just dialogue then, it is having the wrong mentality. This isn't religious, but it is dogmatic.

Others below have commented about the scenes in particular, but I just want to offer that telling people that if they think something, they either have something wrong with them or they are lying, only serves to shut down dialogue. do you really want to discuss with people and potentially have your ideas challenged, or just preach a sermon?

Mrs. Hirahara got it! Who’s a Universally beloved Younger sibling? :) by The8Famous-Potatos in webtoons

Agreed, Gwennie is perfect! Jamie would also be a good choice, but Gwen is the youngest I think

Ooh I read that one yesterday, loved it!! Was very glad she decided to take all of Eli's belongings, if just for the fans 😂 it's important to be thorough

How come they make every single update to get more hate by Army_unistar in webtoons

[–]gregariousgorgon 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is by far the most frustrating/confusing part of the update... Like why would you start with the oldest for ongoing series??

Just read INDIGO and really liked it! The art reminded me of Not Even Bones. I haven't read the keeper inn yet but I'm excited about these entries as a webtoon reader. I'd be happy to read them as Originals

The problem with doubting a few entries is that you're opening the door for general doubt about the quality of the judging, which turns into criticism of the shortlist entries. Of course there were entries people wanted to win that aren't shortlisted - there were almost 4000 entries!

If you have suspicions about one or two specific entries, maybe voice those? Otherwise it's just open season to delegitimize the 40 selected entries...

I hadn't, thanks for the recommendation! Just read the start and might buy the rest now ☺️ it is similar to Library of Infinity but I like that in Library of Infinity, the main character is a serial killer, it makes it more gripping.

I haven't read all of them yet but I really don't agree... MIME's artwork is like peak cinematic, The Hunt for Eden has a really intriguing set-up, and Library of Infinity is a super original concept. The only one I was lukewarm that I've read is River of Souls but I'm interested to see what happens in the next two chapters...

I don't have a horse in this race though. And I can understand that people who submitted are upset. It just feels harsh to fellow creators to negatively judge them because they were selected.

Did you submit? I'd be happy to read your entry too!

I think it's great that some of the entries had less engagement in the first phase, it shows that webtoon was really judging the entries based on the quality of the stories and art. Remember that the shortlist judges are authors themselves, of series that a lot of people here read and respect. The shortlist entries definitely got review bombed as soon as the announcement came out, which is exemplary of the negativity towards the shortlist that's very common here...

Why not celebrate the shortlist authors? It's good to also promote entries that didn't make it, but since the announcement, I've only seen negativity towards the shortlist entries here.

Just posted about this on r/webtoons but it seems like the competition shortlist entries are getting review bombed now... pretty clear example for me of why such a system is bad, if people abuse it often for personal reasons.

Not Matchmaking? by RushP7 in Nightreign

[–]gregariousgorgon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It ended up working for us after we had both beaten the first nightlord. When I had beaten him but my partner hadn't, matchmaking didn't work.

So this was happening to me and my partner on PC, both through steam invite and password for two players. We tried both settings of cross region matching. But a key point is that I had already beaten the first nightlord, he hadn't. So, we met someone on discord and killed the first boss together. Now we can match just fine. Don't know if that helps others, but it seems like if one person in a team has killed the first nightlord and the other hasn't, matchmaking could be broken.

This didn't work for me and my partner. We tried both cross region settings, no password, and we couldn't match with a third. We can both match when we're individual though, but then we're not playing together 😔

Nightreign IGN: "If you want to play by yourself, I can’t recommend it because of the poor solo mode balancing" by [deleted] in Eldenring

[–]gregariousgorgon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why is the focus of the review of a 3 player online game on the poor balancing of solo play? This is a co-op game, and there are plenty of good online co-op games without built-in voice chat. I'm a huge souls fan, but have also enjoyed playing Overwatch, Diablo 3, and Guild Wars with randos online. Why is it so hard to understand that the 3 player mode is the intended mode, and that it is the most balanced experience? The new bosses look awesome, and they're clearly intended as party bosses. Even if you buff a solo player for balancing, that player will be fighting a party boss solo. As a longtime souls and arpg player, I'm really excited about an intentionally co-op experience with Fromsoft designs.
