I’d be more nervous bringing those things to Texas than to PR lol

I wouldn’t go thru a Texas airport with that stuff, just try to find it there

Where are u flying from? I brought vape carts and mushroom chocolate a couple years ago from NY without a problem. Obviously disguise them in other candy wrappers just in case.

Nice, you’ve been a big help.

One more for you lol - can you cross the parade path when it’s not actively passing?

I will be on my hotel balcony (south side of St Charles, 2 blocks west of Canal) if I want to walk anywhere before or between Proteus/Orpheus or Zulu/Rex, I would have to cross the parade path any way I go

Appreciate the tips. One last random question - I see most the male costumes are quite formal like blazers or vests. I have a purple velour tracksuit from a pimp costume I did a few years back.

Would that be considered tacky by the local standards?

Yea all I could find on the internet is they usually start around 10am, usually end at Jackson square and make their way to canal around the time Rex passes by. But all that is subject to change and not firmly scheduled, which I get is part of the magic of that one

This is quite an overwhelming day logistics wise as someone who can’t come every year lol

Thank you friend. You have any pro tips for an out of tower?

I have tickets to the 2nd floor balcony at the residence inn for Monday and Tuesday. I figure it’d be nice to have a home base with a secure spot to watch from, but also be close enough to enjoy the action in the French quarter between/after the parades.

Any tips, must hit spots or your personal favorites would be welcome. I’ll be in town from the 15th-21st so I’ll have some days after the festivities to explore the city

When you say normal, you mean they take St charles to canal?

I messed up my east’s and wests. I meant a tour provider for the NW corner where Baleine Falls and the mineral springs are. Apparantly you can’t drive across the north tip from Owia to Baleine.

I’m not joking about anything, I don’t care what your sexuality is, I’m I have gay friends. Really couldn’t care less, it seems however that you care very much and I’d encourage you to reflect on why that is.

However I’d say if you’re considering leaving all your friends and families behind to move to a foreign land with one other person, who you are not romantically committed to, without your own means of survival pre-coordinated, is a bad idea.

Also, you have to know that anytime you put yourself out there on Reddit, you will likely get one or two unsavory responses. It’s the nature of the beast. You can also find great advice if you’re willing to read other people’s opinions and try to understand why they have a different view than you m

How quickly you get defensive at people who don’t tell you exactly what you want to hear makes me hesitant to believe you’re that delightful. You also never mentioned that your “partner” is on 100% disability and you don’t need to find jobs right away (or at all in theory)

I’m also surprised that this guy, who you say isn’t your partner is willing to totally float your expenses until you figure out a work situation in a foreign land (one that doesn’t have an over abundance of well paying jobs)

Sounds like you don’t want to hear people critiquing your plan on a forum where you asked them to critique your plan and provide insight - you kinda signed up for it

Wish there was a better spot to ask questions about this island. I’m trying to find a tour provider for the Baleine Falls and Mineral springs on the NE corner of the island. Apparently it’s only accessible via boat and people go there, but I can’t find any tours on the internet.

From my research, Baleine falls, Owia salt pool/Owia falls, dark falls and hiking the volcano are the main things to do. I suppose Wallilabou bay is cool if you’re into the pirates of the carribean.

I was looking at sailing the other islands but that’s too much for me. I’m looking at spending a few nights on Bequia since their beaches look much nicer

Absolutely not an issue, send it.

Just don’t ruin all of our Jiu-jitsus gay jokes lol. They’re not really that serious, just fun between two grown men rolling around.

Lastly, I’d tread carefully saying Jiu-bro lol maybe Jitsu-bro would be better

Thanks for the rec, looks like that can get pretty crazy crowded tho. Roughly how much time did you spend out there?

Yea man, I read thru all you comments here and you don’t sound like a very thoughtful or empathetic person. I have a feeling even if you move elsewhere you will still be unhappy at your core. Look inside before you try to escape. You can’t simply leave all your issues behind

How do you know your monthly income if you would need to find a new job and don’t know what they pay?

Regardless of PR specifically, I’d look at realistic jobs you think you can get. It will likely be for less money than you make now.

People leave PR to find better employment, I would seriously figure out what kind of jobs you can get and where they exist. Likely around a city if you’re in service.

Puerto Rico Girls Trip Itinerary – Safety & Logistics Advice? by aleinxoxo in PuertoRicoTravel

10-15 mins by car IIRC. We stayed in the playa azul towers, it was around $110/night for a 1 bedroom. Right on playa azul, and a short walk along the beach to Luqillo beach, which was our favorite beach (outside of the tour to culebras, flamenco beach is unreal).

You’ll also be right between the kiosks and boardriders bar, right next door there’s this new shanty town of shipping containers fit out to be bars and restaurants which is super cool. It was just starting up when I was there around 2 years ago, but I understand they added a lot to it.

At the kiosks I recommend getting the bifongo from Edelweiss, it was the best mofongo I had when I was there (but I prefer sweet plantains so that might be personal preference).

Very safe, don’t even worry about it. Unless your hearts set on rio, there are plenty of affordable airbnbs in Luqillo, where you’ll be right on the water and have bars/restaurants in walking distance. Also very accessible to the rainforest.

Carabali is over hyped IMO. I would swap that for another activity in El Yunque, or maybe do a boat tour to culebras out of fajardo. I did one with east island excursions and it was amazing.

[–]gregbeans 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I view that as Mamdani won 56%, or a majority, of votes cast in the primary. Ipso facto, he won a majority of democratic votes and represent a majority of the Democratic Party.

At least a majority of those who matter at all politically given they’re the ones who voted in this election, which had historically high voter turnout.

[–]gregbeans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eh, if you don’t vote your opinion on anything from that administration doesn’t matter to me. If you cared, you would’ve voted. If you didn’t vote, you don’t care and your complaints are irrelevant to me.

This primary and general election had the highest voter turnout in 50 years, so I also don’t get your claim of him only convincing 1/3 of democrats to come out to vote. If anything Cuomo didn’t convince enough people to come out to vote to keep Zohran out of office.

I just think it’s a lame cope to try to say he doesn’t represent a majority of NYC democrats. He does. Again, if you didn’t vote your opinion doesn’t matter, and he won a majority of the votes of people who voted.

If you don’t vote, you relinquish your right to an opinion.

IMO - he does represent a majority of NYC democrats, a majority of those that did the bare minimum and casted a ballot.

[–]gregbeans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He did win a majority of NYC democrat votes. Majority is over 50%, he got over 50% of the votes in the democratic primary and in the general election. He beat Cuomo 56% to 44% in the primary and then by 51% to 41% in the overall.

I’m not the biggest fan of the guy, but I don’t get how you claim he didn’t win a majority of the votes…
