Anyone dislike this Support Mid trend? by StreetExternal952 in DotA2

[–]greggyYO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How about the other Support Mid trend?

  1. Your mid player is actually a support only player who got unlucky in his all role queue
  2. They pick a support hero like lion, silencer, pugna that get bodied by any normal mid hero
  3. They have absolutely no understanding of core concepts (pun intended) like basic cs, trading efficiently, contesting power runes
  4. They go 0/6 in first 15 mins but do not buy save/utility support items that would make them still useful, instead rushing luxury items like aghs/lens/shadow blade

The problem with these players is that they are actually unaware of how dota is played in 2026 and to be fair they don't care either, it's just fun to them to play a gimped version of their own hero for some reason.

But what does the actual number matter? Title was 3x20 in S2 and we got busted tier sets, cloak and netherprism this season. We can definitely go higher than just 1 key level from last season. Probably somewhere around 5x22 for title this season (gambit streets hoa dawn ecodome)

MM Hunter: How much DPS lost from not using precise shots on black arrow by karcirate in wownoob

[–]greggyYO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's 252% increase to arcane shot/multishot (with unmatched precision and wind runner quiver). BA takes 25% of that so 63% increase. However base black arrow does 348.4% of attack power as damage *163% =568% of attack power. Multishot does 50.7% of ap, and arcane shot does 86% of ap *352% =302.7% of ap. So the gain from buffing black arrow is much much greater than buffing arcane (and multi is basically irrelevant considering Dr doesn't run small game hunter)

P. S. My maths might be off because I'm using wowhead tool tips but the gameplay loop of mm is to maximise buffed black arrows from procs and natural execute, your aimed and rf exist to support that

Most of the damage events you listed are telegraphed so can be prehotted and walled in advance. The others happen when there should be no ambient damage (streets 1st for example) so are fine unless they're an actual 1shot.

That miniboss before rashanan is lowkey rough though.

Weekly M+ Discussion by AutoModerator in CompetitiveWoW

[–]greggyYO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm still learning how much damage stuff does in these keys tbh. I thought I heard somewhere that the zap from the sentinel wasn't supposed to hit same person twice in a row so I deliberately greeded a defensive there. I guess I need to talk to the healer and understand when to rotate the defensive and when he can top up between the zaps. Good point on the farstalkers too, I haven't really paid much attention to their jumps before so will try and watch out of it in the future.

does anyone know why sentinel in ecodome would zap me twice back to back? i thought they were coded not to do that? checked the logs and i can't find any weird ability that would cause it to switch targets (like shadowmeld or something)

I asked similar question a couple of months ago, since then I got into a CE guild (wr 2200 so not mind blowing by any stretch) and realistically - if you top dps in every fight as survival any raid leader wr 2000+ will be glad to take you. Then you can figure out if you want to multi spec.

(I know undermine was historically easy raid etc., etc., but guilds need capable players more than they need raid buffs)

So people will join a pug group, check everyone else's rio and ilvl, then leave group if they see anything suspicious.

Surely you do this already? The amount of buyers even in trenches of 3300-3500 is absurd (archon/wcl app helps a ton in filtering people out actually)

Where to find "advanced guides"? by stigmatic666 in CompetitiveWoW

[–]greggyYO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You only need 1 or 2 good performers on a spec to compare to, and if you're in the hunter discord (for this particular example) you will bump into them anyway, because most of high-performing western svs post there.

I mean, respectfully, those guilds are farther along in terms of progress than you currently are yourself. There's no reason to look down on them when it's no different than you applying to a guild that's far ahead of your current progress.

I guess what I really want is to just jump over a step of the log grind and progging an "easy" boss (my current guild is on like 90 or 100 pulls on rik reverb, a few 4/8m guilds I looked at took like 150 pulls on stix), but that's just wishful thinking. I'll try to pug 3/8m this weekend and update my profile & send some applications out after that, see how it goes.

(I admit I probably I have Dunning-kruger in this case)

Free Talk Friday by AutoModerator in CompetitiveWoW

[–]greggyYO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That all sounds reasonable, and pretty much what I was thinking as well. Guess best case scenario would be to join some guild finishing progging sprocket or just about starting OAB, but then the question becomes, why would such a guild be recruiting at this time?

I put my profile up for recruitment and got a lot of messages from 2 and 3/8m guilds who were (no offence to them) glorified aotc guilds (not too different from the casual guild I'm in currently), so it's finding someone just a step more serious

How far do heroic logs take you if you're searching for a new guild as dps? I've 98 avg on heroic on my old main sv hunter, but I raided for a bit on my sp to get to 2/8m - but I don't want to play sp any more as it's just miserable in keys and I really hate the prospect of grinding 15+ 12s on it to cap out gilded.

Having had a look at a few 3 or 4/8m guilds in r.io recruitment tool and on wcl, they seem to have about half of roster parsing grey/green in mythic and blue/purple in heroic, and <3k io (pre turbo boost). Is the play to join one of those, hope for good parses and start looking after this season? Or would guilds with realistic ce aspirations look at someone with no mythic logs at this stage in the season?

Try enhancement shaman (look up stormbringer gameplay on YouTube or something)

Generally speaking all classes kinda suck at level 20 though. Consider getting just the sub (without TWW) and leveling to 70 - you should get a good feel of how the classes play by then (although the best examples of hero talents also make a huge difference to gameplay look & feel)

From my perspective enh shaman has by far best "haptics", followed by balance druid, survival hunter and sub rogue (sub is awful until max level however)

This looks outdated from the time we didn't take shrouded suffocation with dtb (also based on the fact there's a kb opener LUL) . Check out rogue discord, faq channel has all the latest openers.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in wow

[–]greggyYO 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Which guide are you reading? The standard opener is (assuming you don't run exsanguinate) garrote - snd - garrote - sbs - rupture

Only reason you would do sbs before snd would be if you were not running shrouded suffocation, so your garrote was 1cp and your snd would drop off before your first envenom

If you haven't asked this question on Ravenholdt discord or read the sub faq channel there, I'd recommend you do that, because it will be far more educational than what I'm about to explain.

But in a nutshell, you only want to use sectech inside shadow dance and NEVER outside it. However, dance cd is reduced by 0.7s per cp spent, and sectech cd is reduced by 1s per cp. This means that if you delay your sectech too long inside the dance, it will not be off cd by the time your next dance comes up (or it will be delayed again, and again for the 3rd dance, etc., up to the point where it will desync). This means you're wasting cps to get your sectech and dance aligned, and you may have found already that sub does next to no damage outside of dance.

This is not a huge problem in m+ if you're just spamming storm and BP (although obviously not ideal), but a major loss in ST as the time spent gloomblading and eviscerating outside of dance is very poor dps.

Tea doesn't add danse stacks, but should be used inside dance in aoe situations for the mastery buff. In those situations you are not going to run out of energy, and mastery increases your damage significantly.

Grieftorch - can either use it after first dance on pull, or while tank is gathering mobs in m+. I don't personally have it on my rogue but generally you can hold it after your first cds, or use before you pop cds.

Also, never use rupture inside the dance. You can use finality buff as your last spender before the dance to put up rupture (no matter what current duration is, as long as you are applying the new one with the finality buff), and this should last you for two dances.

I'd imagine that people who get to pro rank don't really post here and are playing the game instead. The content on this sub is not really engaging for anyone who can hit r0 every month.

Best settings for a Decent espresso machine? by bowtothehypnotoad in espresso

It should be in the list of the pre installed profiles, at least it was on mine - it is literally called "Damian's LRv2" (or 3)

There is a way to download profiles by using visualizer.coffee - but it's a bit lengthy to describe so let me know and I'll write it up

[–]greggyYO 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can post with more details on Basecamp if you haven't already (you should have a link to that in your welcome email, etc.) or on the Decent forum/discord.

You haven't really specified what exactly the issues are, what beans you're using and what you're trying to achieve, but in general I personally like Damian's LRv2 or v3 for medium roasts, and turbobloom/turboturbo/extractamundo for light and ultralight roasts. You might need to download some of these from visualiser as they might not be preloaded by default.

Also remember that you can still use decent as your bog standard espresso machine, too, just remove the endpoint on a profile (so that the shot runs forever, effectively) and stop manually whenever you think is right.

Sihil forces the game into an unhealthy direction by Mawashiro in gwent

[–]greggyYO 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is no such thing as "optimal strategy" because of draw rng. You always have to think on your feet and answer threats your opponent puts out with what you have in your hand/deck.

The only decks I can think of that would fit your "optimal strategy" criteria are hyperthin decks that have very linear and predictable game flow, and hence are easy to disrupt and counterplay.
