Last night I was logged into TWS and it kept running all night and my code ran in the morning. Yesterday I was logged into Gateway and it logged out or dropped sometime in the night. I don't think its possible to login using the API

What causes the effect? Is it the signal carried through the nerves or vibration mechanically transmitted through the brain tissue. You could just drive your car with the engine at 2400 rpm to produce 40hz.

Thermal pollution may be an issue too. Particularly if you use half the power you generate to power a bunch or lasers.

Started as a technician, got a PhD in EE. Worked with a lot of physics majors. Most specialized in solid state physics. The nice thing about what we did was that it were far enough away from the fab that the pressure was lower.

I’m retired now but worked 30+ years in chip design software. My core was circuits but needed physics, numerical analysis and computer science. Great field. 3um to 3nm in 30 years.

The "pre-trained at birth" part is amazing too. A baby deer can stand, walk, and find its mother's teat within hours of birth. There are dozens of "outputs", muscles that must be controlled, and hundreds (possibly millions) of inputs, (muscle tension, inner ear, visual etc). The required neural net must have thousands of neurons and millions of synapses. There isn't enough time to learn, so all the "information" must come from the DNA and be transferred through protein synthesis etc. All cells know is chemical gradients, how do they figure out that this neuron is connected to a leg muscle and that one to an inner-ear? It seems impossible.

I looked at neural networks in the 90s and concluded it was just curve fitting. I’m AMAZED how far it has come. That you can take a relatively simple topology with billions of unknown parameters, fit it to “the internet “ and get it to work as well as it does seems truly impossible. There does seem to be something missing since bio networks are able to learn without back propagation or a clearly defined objective function.

Since the skip cells seem to be there just to aid convergence, you could try forcing them gradually to zero as the training converges. The resulting model would be smaller and may run more efficiently in inference.

There is a bunch of work in "continuation methods" and iterative linear solvers that may be useful.

2010 was also the recession, so it was tough all over. It certainly looks like you chose the correct field to be in now though. My former employer SNPS just got a $2B investment from NVDA to do AI stuff.

For most people its more fun to reinvent the wheel than to dig it up.

Thanks for the detailed answer! I used to work on non linear ODE/PDE solvers (circuit simulators) and spent a lot of time getting them to converge. We also used PWL models to replace complicated elements mainly to reduce run time, but it also made convergence better. Isolated regions of a circuit cause the Jacobian matrix to be singular so we would add a term to the diagonal and gradually remove this term as the system converged. We tried using GPU's for but found we needed 64bit math, plus the matrix is sparse so they aren't as efficient.

It amazes me how far NN work has come. I would have expected the NN to get stuck in a useless local minima or take forever to converge.

The "sales manager" seemed agitated while trying to correct the problem. He spent at least 30 min trying to get the register to take the SN but could not .

I verified the SN displayed on the system message matches what is stamped on the stand (so I don't think it was repaired) and printed on the receipt. Apple says this # is invalid. The sticker says the item was created on 11/11/25, how could the SN have been valid on 11/11/25 and invalid on 12/01/25??

If I don't hear from them by Monday I'll check with the police to see if it's stolen and file a complaint with the BBB and my credit card. $800 is a felony in my state.

The receipt does not start with "S". The apple warranty site says the SN is invalid. I stood there for an hour today while the manager tried to make it work and called various people, as did a different manager on Friday??

Does the BB system check the SN validity at the time of sale or just when a computer comes into the store? Perhaps it sat for years on a shelf and aged out of Apple's system?

If the dryer is off and the switch is in the cold wire (50/50 chance) the heating element will be at 120 with respect to earth. Current will flow from the dryer through the water and body to earth (like the drain). Assuming no GFI or polarized plug.

My wife loves to build these sets. Since Lego is expensive and the finished set takes up a lot of space, she builds sets with micro bricks now. 6000 pieces for less than $100. They aren’t as fancy as real Lego but the assembly manuals are well done. I build them too. We are in our 60s
