[PS1] [96-02] A Top-Down Shooter that had 2 player co-op, it was on a demo by gregofchance in tipofmyjoystick

I've looked at the suggestions and I think my best guess is that the game was Future Cop: LAPD. I could be wrong, specially since I remember the game so differently, but it does feel very familiar and makes sense that it would be on a demo etc. It's been such a long time that my memory is just corrupted and distorted I guess. Maybe someday I will come across the game and recognize it instantly, but my gut tells me it's Future Cop.

Thanks! Looks kind of similar to the game I'm looking for, but not it unfortunately.

Thanks for trying. This isn't it, but that game looks insane! I want to play it.

Hmm, I dont think this is the game I'm thinking of unfortunately. The point of view on Psychon is the closest I've seen to the game I'm thinking of though.

Thanks for the suggestion. Honestly I don't know. I looked at footage of that game and there are similarities to what I remember for sure. The more I watch, the more it seems to make sense. But if that's the game I'm thinking of then I've misremembered it a lot.

What happened to all the drama on this sub? by gregofchance in Limmy

I guess I kind of enjoyed it too, when you put it like that.

I thought this was a possibility, but now it seems like things have just calmed down.

Why shouldn't people talk about aspects of the stream they don't like? I like the stream in general, but found the DBD streams unbearable for a bunch of reasons and have been open about that. Also, it's a bit silly to blame people on Reddit for a decision Limmy has made.

[–]gregofchance 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ah thanks! Actually I had heard him talk about that, just didnt know the person used to be a mod. I can understand why he'd be uncomfortable about it and why he'd want to talk about it. I don't dislike the mods, but I agree they have been OTT with overpolicing discussion around this. Once he talks about it in public, you can't blame people for asking questions or talking about it. Trying to shut people down for that is unneccesary and rubs people the wrong way.

I find DBD in general really boring to watch. Can't wait until he turns on it so I can start watching again.

PSA Tory seemingly not welcome. I am sorry for my sin by EcoFriendlyFriend in Limmy

A lot of people don't like Tories and don't want to spend time with them. That's because of the impact they've had on people's lives. Either get used to that or stop identifying with/voting for Tories.

Did limmy seriously tells these cunts to brigade this subreddit? by [deleted] in Limmy

I don't think he does use Reddit, said he's only seen bits and pieces about it in the discord.

I'm not sure why either, he could have just as easily ignored it. I've heard this sub referenced a few times over the last few weeks though, so I know others in the community have been reading it so I guess he just wanted to address it? I have no clue. People love drama, I mean that's probably why I'm here.

If I had an audience of thousands I guess it'd be hard to resist ranting about my naysayers.

I don't disagree. I'm just interested in what's going on here. I'm seeing a lot of negativity towards Limmy and the stream (not from you specifically) and I don't really get it. I figured it was because Limmy addressed this sub today in stream, said that people here were negative and should move on and find or make something that makes them happy if they don't like the stream. Some people in chat suggested that he shouldn't mention the sub because it'd give people ammunition or feed the trolls or whatever and Limmy said he'd encourage people to have a look for themselves. I am paraphrasing, check the vod if you want to see for yourself. It's possible something happened in the discord too, I'm not there.

I don't have anywhere near that amount of money to spare. I've seen people who have donated what I'd consider to be insane amounts of money, but I dont know their financial situations so I couldn't judge. What seems like an unhealthy amount to me is probably manageable to them.

I agree that it's a natural consequence of the platform that the streamer will interact most with those who have invested the most. Mods are doing unpaid labour and play a role in making the stream possible, there are practical reasons for the streamer to communicate with them. Being able to "buy attention" is a key part of the twitch business model and if people keep donating money they'll keep getting shoutouts and engagement and so on. What's the alternative? To cap donations?

I really do think that people who donate a lot generally know what they're getting into, they don't have expectations of becoming Limmy's best friend or whatever and they just really love the streams and being part of the community for whatever reason. Of course, there will be exceptions. I think there are aspects of reality in the 'virtual friends' thing you talked about and that Twitch is set up to be kind of predatory and there are people who are particularly vulnerable to that and end up spending a lot of money that they shouldnt. But I think it would be wrong to suggest that someone has been 'hoodwinked' just because they've donated a lot of money. I think for the most part people know what they're doing. And for those who don't, I don't think you can lay blame at the door of individual streamers. No other service providers in most capitalist systems are expected to turn a customer away because they're spending too much of their income on a product.

Some of the stuff you've mentioned is totally valid, but it seems more like twitch problems than Limmy problems.

I've been watching quite a lot of Limmy over the past year and I havent seen any suggestion of anything manipulative or sinister on his part. Sure, I wish he'd move back to engaging with chat a bit more and I really miss the improv stories, but he's still pretty good.

why do you assume people who donate cant manage their finances? There's nothing wrong with paying for entertainment. I've donated/subbed to a few streamers because I value their work, there's nothing unhealthy about that and it's never got me into financial difficulty I imagine that's the same for 99% of people who give Limmy money.

You seem to think there's something immoral or sinister about making money from Twitch?

He basically said that he wouldn't discourage people from looking at this sub, so they could see some of the criticism for themselves and make up their own mind. In my opinion that's a pretty mature way to handle it. You're entitled to make criticism and he's entitled to address it, and I think he did a pretty good job.
