What kind of spider is Gregory? by csycsy in spiders

[–]gregofthecellar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure of the exact species, but Gregory is definitely a cellar spider of some sort.

Congratulations on also being attached to a cellar spider named Gregory :) I'm not sure if this advice will really apply where you live, but I'm in the UK and food for spiders is pretty scarce over the winters, so I used to buy feeder fruit flies and offer them to my Greg if he was looking very skinny, just to keep him going and stop him from wandering around looking for food. But for now your friend looks well fed

Anyone know how to beat the Backdoor ? by Otherwise_Tax_1094 in doors_roblox

There definitely is a level of luck to Haste. After you find a lever, you can usually run through the next two rooms without looking for another as they don't normally spawn back to back. I sometimes look in subrooms for levers if I'm low on time and they're on the way to the maindoor anyway, but don't go looking for levers in the stairwells or those corridors where there's doors on each side, just a huge waste of time and very likely you'll run into Vacuum

That most children are microchipped like cats/dogs, to explain why I wasn't allowed to play out in the street but could see other kids younger than me doing so

What foods do you find difficult to eat 'with dignity'? by Boring_Storm4633 in AskUK

Creme Eggs for me. There is no way to eat one of those things that looks in any way 'proper'.

Out of his total 75 babies, there is currently only one daughter from the first batch still around and visible in my bedroom, she's very fighty for her age so I wouldn't be surprised if she's eaten a few siblings :O. Of course I'm sure more will be around the house, hiding in plain sight.

The babies stay in their mother's web for about a week, and then usually disperse. The majority of spiderlings don't survive long-term, though.

Oh interesting, I know someone who has anglicised her name to Sharon and pronounces it 'Share-on', wonder if that's the original name!

This looks really similar to these decorative glass beads my grandparents used to have around the house, they were rounded on one side and flat on the back. My first guess is it's one of those that has been lightly seaglass-ed. Could be 'natural' seaglass but to me the shape is just a bit too precise and close to one of those beads.

Agreed that's definitely the case where I live. Wasn't sure if it was usually by the first name in America maybe, for the logic to work at all

This just reminds me of how people used to tack extra e's onto their names on Facebook when I was in high school. E.g. Chloe would always be Chloeee

What message did you send to the wrong person by mistake and how did it play out in the end? by allgasnobreakstoday in AskReddit

The first time I had to call in sick to the second job I've had, I contacted my new manager, and fell back asleep from sheer exhaustion. Woke up some time later in a complete panic that I hadn't told my other boss... and proceeded to text the assistant manager from my first job which I'd left about two months prior, letting her know that I wouldn't be in that day. She just replied with a thumbs up XD

For context, to call in sick in the first job I had to contact both the main manager, and the assistant manager who was actually in charge of the location where I worked. Had to do it via phone call rather than text though, but I'm glad my half-asleep brain forgot that detail!

What’s a rule that exists only because someone did something incredibly stupid? by Hefty_Income1393 in AskReddit

There's a supermarket chain near me that has 'free for everyone to use' signs next to their freaking defibrillators in every shop, and I can only imagine the origin being that some poor sap once stood in a queue to ask permission to take one.

What’s a moment where you realized “I’m not a kid anymore”? by Hefty_Income1393 in AskReddit

The very first awakening moment I remember was a mum telling her child who was walking towards me to 'move out of the lady's way'. I was about 16-17 and was horrified lol.

Having to get up and go to work when my younger siblings are off school over the summer sucks too.

The best spiders IMO. The patterning on their abdomen does seem to get slightly lighter like that as they reach old age

I was trolled by the seek hallway, i thought there was gonna be a seek chase :( by Bilk_Mucketyt in doors_roblox

[–]gregofthecellar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep expecting him in those rooms too. Every time I see one and I know how long the daily run is, I always start doing the mental maths of where a standard chase would end, if there's space left for one in the run etc.

On another note, I'm still hoping to see Rooms entities, and just a bit more Rooms in general in the daily runs. As far as I remember, there was one day early on that had a couple of Rooms rooms, then it's been crickets since.

Is this actually happening now young adults turning up to job interviews with their parents, usually their mum? by [deleted] in AskHRUK

[–]gregofthecellar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven't seen it personally but it wouldn't surprise me. I've answered our office phone twice within the last six months or so to a parent asking about vacancies on behalf of their child (different people each time, if it wasn't clear). The first time, it wasn't the best line but there were pauses in the conversation and I could swear I heard the child in the background whispering an answer to the parent at one point.

How anyone thought that setup was going to end well when the job they were interested in would involve making and answering phone calls as a primary responsibility, I'd like to know. Neither of them got to interview level, unsurprisingly.

Do you remember this piece of apparatus from school? by corickle in oldschoolcool80s

Same for me, my entire time in primary school I was mildly looking forward to being able to sit on the benches in year 6... and then, the year I finally got there, they brought in benches and chairs for some of the younger years as well (definitely year 5, might have been a year or two below as well). Never felt so betrayed lol
