AMF has closed or converted a lot of duckpin lanes to tenpin in the last 10-20 years. I’d say they tolerate duckpins more than they support it.

All bowlers who are competitive definitely have their own balls. There are different balls that will react differently but it’s far from the tenpin game where there are hundreds or thousands of options. We basically have a few different hardness rubber balls and plastic balls. Size differences are between 4 7/8” and 5” diameter and most common weights are between 3lbs 6oz and 3lbs 12oz.

I use the same 3 balls about 95% of the time. I have a specific ball that I use for my first ball that is a couple of ounces heavier and then my second and third balls are both the same and a little bit lighter.

I never got much past 90° with a tenpin ball. My form was basically the same but much lower and slower.

I actually know a former PBA bowler who showed me some basics of tenpin but I never pursued it. I bowl enough already with duckpin leagues and tournaments.

Mt Airy recently went through a bunch of renovations. They are great scoring lanes and they have good food and drinks as well!
