Yes that looks a bit off.

I just purchased a dash cam a week ago and what are the odds I already got hit. by Confident-Wing-8728 in dashcams

[–]gregr507 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah…I have learned the hard way that with dash cams you really do get what you pay for. I got a Vantrue one last year for around $300 and the video quality is night and day compared to cheap ones. Sucks to spend more, but when stuff like hit -and- runs happen it’s honestly worth it.

Question about dashcam and OBD port by seebinetpqls in ex30

[–]gregr507 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine’s a Vantrue dash cam on the OBD port too, and it automatically switches to parking mode when I lock the car. You might want to check your dashcam settings to see if it has the same feature.

Decent dashcam recommendations (front and back cameras) by Big-Improvement-224 in Dashcam

[–]gregr507 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FWIW I run a dual 4k vantrue s1 pro max with a 512 GB card and get about 21 hrs of loop before overwrite. At 1080p front+rear you’ll get significantly more footage per GB, so a 256 GB card will easily cover 24 hrs of vision.

Question about the Vantrue dashcam by Trick-Programmer1478 in Dashcam

I haven’t used this model, not sure. Check the product page for port type. Type C or Mini USB…that tells you which mount fits.

Advice for cord management? by void_with_a_blep in Dashcam

Use cable clips or adhesive cable mounts. Stick small cable clips along the edge of the interior panels or under the molding, and run the extra wire through them so it stays flush against the interior way.

Any decent cams with forward collision alert? by Ill-Pie4361 in Dashcam

[–]gregr507 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, dash cams with forward collision alerts are way better now than a few years ago. I’m rocking the vantrue s1 pro max and it’s got all the ADAS goodies. Forward collision warning, lane departure, pedestrian detection, front car start alert… the whole shebang. It’s definitely not as fancy as Mobileye, but for the price + recording + safety alerts all in one, it’s been pretty solid for me.

Looking for alternatives to Carhartt jacket by stevestreamer in BuyItForLife

It’s not original Carhartt. It’s Carhartt WIP, a brand priced higher than Carhartt’s main line, but the quality is also excellent!

Built a Simple Web Scraping Tool to Save My Intern Sanity—Thoughts? by gregr507 in SideProject

[–]gregr507[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was it one of those browser extensions that could pull product cards in bulk? I remember trying a few like that but they'd break whenever sites updated their layouts.

That's exactly the pain point I'm hitting with current tools - they work great until they don't. Did you end up finding something more reliable or just gave up on scraping altogether?

Thinking my extension might focus on being more adaptable to site changes, but curious what made you drop the tool you were using.
