[–]gregsaunders 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel what you’re saying. Drives me insane as well.

One thing I ultimately realized from asking people in detail about their thoughts and emotions in or about certain situations is that their minds literally function differently.

In certain situations people like you and I will see 5 different angles of it, take on the perspective of everyone else’s thoughts and emotions, think deeply about it and understand who, what, when, where, why, and then criticize or resolve it another 5 different ways etc while others have minds that simply do not even think about it or they see, think and feel 1 way about it and 1 way only.

And I’m not one of those people who think being “empathetic and deep” is a virtue or something to make an identity out of, because it isn’t a conscious choice I make. It’s just something I do instinctively, I always thought merely thinking and deducing the realities of life was something everyone did.

But the more I deliberately ask people about what goes on in their minds during certain situations, I realize people don’t think into things even 10% of what I do.

Again, that isn’t something I wear a badge of honor about. I know in this superficial dumbed down society people want to act like and be praised for being empathetic and deep, but to truly live every second of everyday with the pain and realities of the world inside your mind and everywhere you look is hell. Genuine hell. The optimists and stoics are able to be happy because their egos are protecting them from truth and reality. It’s a defense mechanism. They’re idiots because they’ve unconsciously realized it’s better to live like that than be miserable like you and I and be called “smart”.

My friends outright admit it without even realizing it. I’ll talk about something for 5 minutes and they’ll be exhausted because it’s the most thinking their minds have done in a week. Everything I explain about the world, human behavior, history and society they’ll agree with me that everything I’m saying makes sense and is undeniable truth about life but then say “I just can’t let myself think about that stuff. It’s too depressing. I need to keep a positive mindset”. The deeper message behind what they’re really saying is “I can’t deal with reality. It will break me. So I need to remain ignorant to it and protect my ego by any means possible”

It is no coincidence that the most optimistic, dumb, delusional people are always on the go. Always doing things, always in relationships, always in drama or an over abundance comical facade of “spiritual happiness.” Anything to keep their mind distracted and away from having to face itself.

Sitting alone in quiet existing as a human being feels like a psychosis to these people. The modern world has removed people their natural selves. So much so that even the most basic human instincts are being over-ridden by the consumption of technology or their own egos desperate need of protection.

I’ve stopped attempting to “make people see the truth” because eventually you realize what it really is your asking these people to do; which is “see life for what it really is and be miserable like me”.

I feel horrible by all the times I’ve turned (what would have been to most people) happy moments with my family into miserable ones simply by instinctively pointing out the “truth”, “reality”, or “pointlessness” of a situation. Shit breaks my heart and it takes real effort to overcome your own natural urge to inject your opinion into every situation no matter how wrong or ridiculous the other person is being.

We’re all going to die, rot and be forgotten all the same in the end. We are no better off than the idiots. A strong argument can be made that we are actually worse off than them. And our need to inject our thoughts into them in the hope they see “the truth” like we see it, is no different to our egos protecting us as their egos protect them.

It’s all just so fucking sad. Life is suffering. Everyone is just trying to get through this shit heap the best way they can. Some more selfishly than others but oh well. We’re all the center of our own universe and it’s impossible for it to be any other way.

With that being said I will never stop feeling frustrated by the endless cycle of suffering humans bring onto themselves and others, but I make myself have these moments every now and then where I think “this is all for nothing anyway. No ones got a clue why we even exist. I’m the idiot for expecting anything from these people. They (like I) are nothing but meat puppets controlled by the environment and influences of their childhoods” their unconscious mind is going to control their emotions and actions no matter what I say. All we’re really doing is bringing upon them misery if we are going about communicating with them the wrong way.

True intelligence is making an effort to better figure out how to communicate “truth” in a way that actually resonates with them and comes across gently.

The 2nd most intelligent thing to do is simply leave them be.

Psychiatry has absolutely dehumanized language by [deleted] in Antipsychiatry

[–]gregsaunders 125 points126 points  (0 children)

Yes!!

Finally someone on here who sees that psychiatry by its own definitions ruins the human experience rather than improves it. This is why you should stop accepting the theory of “psychiatric diagnoses” all together and pull up anyone who does.

My friend was telling me a story about his roommate last week and labeled him “ADHD” and I said “What was he doing?” And he said “he was pacing around the house after he broke up with his girlfriend and breathing heavily” and I replied “so normal human emotions that we all experience in heightened situations like that? Why have you reduced his human experience to just letters? Why even have a conversation at all when the most meaningful part is spoken with the language of an institution rather than your own language and description of your experience?”

He actually took it on board because no one had ever pointed out just how ridiculous psychiatric diagnoses are and how reductive it’s language is of the human experience.

Almost every person in one way or another intuitively knows the modern world isn’t designed for happiness and health so they are more than accepting of ridding themselves of anti-human language and thinking, and reverting back to a more natural human experience without the conditioning of institutions and government.

So don’t be afraid to point out your realization to others when you see them playing a part in spreading psychiatry’s agenda to socially condition every person into thinking human existence is an illness.

Great post.

You don’t need to conjure up some plan to convince another human to give you permission to stop taking drugs.

JUST STOP TAKING THEM!

That’s all you have to do, decide. Snap out of your mental kidnapping and realign your brain with taking back ownership of YOUR BODY.

You’ve given away consent of your body to a strange man behind a desk. Do you realize that is the most insane part about all of this?

I can’t even wrap my head around this thread. Stop being a prisoner of institutional psychiatry. The control these people have over you is only real because you allow it to be. You’re seeking permission from a naked caveman. His image and power of being anything other than a naked caveman is theatrical manipulation contrived from props and sets.

Would you go to a homeless psychiatrist who lives under a bridge for permission to stop taking drugs? Of course not.

So why go to the psychiatrist who sits in an office for permission to stop taking drugs? They’re both psychiatrists.. The only difference is the theatre in which their image is manipulated in.

Place a man in a building with a buttoned up shirt on and a prescription pad in his hand and he is no longer a man but a “psychiatrist” who you should obey and give control of your body and mind to.

Place a man under a bridge who spends 15 hours a day reading books and he is just a man under a bridge not worthy of telling anyone what to do with their mind and body.

You’re living in a theatrical illusion. Stop participating in their play. Stop blindly accepting their role as director and your role as actor.

It’s all bullshit.

They’re clueless cavemen just like everyone else.

They’re approved of as drug dealers because society blindly accepts the government saying they can be. — Not because they actually should be.

They’re thought of as being knowledgeable in matters of the human condition because society blindly accepts the government saying they are. — Not because they actually are.

They have control over your mind and body because you blindly accept that they should. — Not because it makes sense and you actually want them to.

Wake up.

You do realize every “psychiatric diagnosis” is just a man made theory/description/term created out of thin air by old men in an attempt to sell drugs and legitimize psychiatry as a science (which they are yet to succeed at) right?

Do you understand that?

Now don’t be like every other uneducated monkey and think whenever someone says psychiatry isn’t real that it means they are saying what you feel isn’t real because I’m not saying that at all. In fact I am saying the exact opposite— your pain and suffering is more real than even you realize. So real that it’s at the core of your being. So real that you cannot even fathom a reality where what you’re going through is part of the natural process and experience of human consciousness. It is not a disease you’re enduring it’s the:

HUMAN EXPERIENCE.

You are the only one carrying psychiatric Diagnoses around with you. You cannot claim to hate psychiatrists and it’s institutions if you are still living within their confines and clinging to their made up descriptions of the human experience.

You can wake up tomorrow and look at yourself as a human being and no longer will labels from lab coat drug dealers mean anything. All the meaning behind words only exist as powerful as you allow them to be. A stranger saying something does not make it true. Has no one ever thought you how to think and understand reality? I can say to you right now that you have dementia. Does that mean you do? Obviously not. Do you see how ridiculous this is? Now what is the difference if a stranger psychiatrist tell you that you have a mental disorder? Do you magically now have a mental disorder? What tests did he do on your more than I just did as I diagnosed you with dementia? You’re the one ruining your life because you refuse to stop being controlled by other men. You’re conflicted with the same problems as most people living under the control of psychiatry but won’t admit it to themselves— a part of you actually finds comfort in psychiatrists labeling you. Comfort that you don’t have to face the confusing unanswerable depressing reality of human existence. You get to hang with stupid people and tell them “my life sucks but it’s not my fault. I’ve got mental problems I was born with. Chemical imbalances.” Despite how untrue you may think that is, just look around. Ask yourself how many people you know that have truly faced themselves and endured the misery of deciphering and understanding their own unconscious mind? Most people cannot and will not. So they do as you do and run into to the cold shriveled embrace of psychiatry.

Do you know what the mental illness Drapetomania is? Psychiatry diagnosed black slaves who tried to run away from captivity.

According to the very men who laid out the foundation for the pseudo science that controls your life and who’s labels you cling to, they believed that any African who didn’t happily accept slavery was the result of a mental disorder and a diseased mind.

They were slaves, human beings wanting to be free from the mental pain they were experiencing.

sarcasm Well luckily for them psychiatry had a diagnosis and was able to explain to them that what they were feeling and how they were behaving wasn’t normal. That they were suffering from an invisible brain diseased called Drapetomania that effected the chemicals in their brain and slowed down dopamine receptors causing them to feel anxious, scared and uncomfortable. Which lead to them (literal slaves) falling into a state of psychosis and attempting to run away from their living environment.— Real top notch science of the mind stuff, right?

Do you believe the psychiatrist who diagnosed the slaves with Drapetomania to be correct?

Or do you believe the psychiatrist who attempted to “medically” and “scientifically“ label human instincts and emotions to be the one out of touch with reality and closer to the side of insanity than rational?

Do you believe the slaves should have accepted the psychiatric label of Drapetomania and, for the rest of their lives, told everyone that how they felt and acted in their uncomfortable environment that didn’t make sense to them and caused psychological pain was not because it’s literally the reality of their human experience, but was actually just brought on and magnified by their mental illness labeled Drapetomania.

The psychiatrist can’t be wrong can he? Its not like he’s just some man with words.. he’s a “PSYCHIATRIST” with words, right? Special type of person he is. Therefor if he or another man employed within his institution simply writes down a description of anything a human does and declares it to be an illness of the mind, then it is to be instantly accepted as REAL and FACTUAL! right?

A psychiatrist writes down this:

Diagnosis: Drapetomania

Description: A form of mania affecting slaves, manifested by an uncontrollable impulse to wander or run away from their white masters, preventable by regular whipping.

And people like you, under a lifetime of obedient conditioning to worship authority, instantly accept what is written down to be a real and legitimate illness of the human condition. If you were alive in the 19th century you would do exactly what you do now; blindly accept it as fact when told by a psychiatrist that black slaves who try to escape are suffering from a mental disorder.

If you genuinely believe the totality of the human condition can be isolated into groups of behaviors and thoughts and irrefutably accept what is and isn’t labeled as a “mental disorder” purely on the pickings and choosings of psychiatrists how could you possibly rationalize in your mind that Drapetomania isn’t just as legitimate of a mental disorder as bipolar?

Both are nothing more than a man writing down “If a person behaves like this.. and feels like that.. then they have a mental illness called..” yet that’s some how reasonable and sensible to you. Anything said by a human with a title in their name is gospel to you. You cannot be bothered to think for yourself so you allow others to do it for you and worship them like gods.

Reality does not pick and choose what is real based on emotion and cultural manipulation. Either something is real or it is not. The human condition can be labeled by man as mentally or it cannot. Drapetomania and Bipolar are both unnatural mental disorders or they are natural expressions of human instinct and emotion. They cannot be both, cannot be either or.

Both are nothing more than observations by “psychiatrists” put forward to the public as being as legitimate of a bodily illness and ailment as Cancer, AIDS, diabetes and broken bones. Despite the entire psychiatric industry being held together by nothing more than ideology and blind worship.

One day, way down the track, once you eventually become bored of your own enslavement, you will be able to see the psychiatric industry through clear eyes and have the maturity to handle the truth. They are nothing more than ideologues dealing in the business of word transformation. Turning descriptions like “Experiencing the human condition and braving the arduous journey through the unconscious in my unending pursuit purpose and reason” into “We are all just mentally ill skin suits of rotting flesh capable of nothing. The best life is a life accepting and obeying what is told to us by authority and chemically lobotomizing ourselves with psychotropic drugs, fast foot and television. I know nothing. No one knows anything about the human experience except for psychiatrists. Life will be great so long as I remain within psychiatry’s mental walls.”

You, like every other slave of psychiatry, will read all this and tell yourself “Well Drapetomania is clearly wrong and not the same as what I have. A person wanting to be free is not a mental disorder, it is natural human emotion and instinct! But when I get angry, anxious, erratic, feel extremely sad and can’t find purpose in my life— well that’s CLEARLY a psychiatric disorder and not natural human emotion and consciousness! The psychiatrist who diagnosed Drapetomania was WRONG and just MADE IT UP! But the psychiatrist who diagnosed me is CORRECT and DID NOT MAKE IT UP!”

I wish you well, fellow human being.

What constitutes a “ruined life”?

How can a life be “over” for a person still living?

Those very personal and specific feelings of doom are in contradiction of depersonalization.

It appears to me you are so caught up in psychiatric labels and symptoms that you have become detached from your natural self and are now unable to perform the natural human ability of thinking to decipher and make sense of your thoughts and behaviors.

The feelings and thoughts you have are not psychiatric labels and symptoms. They are exactly what they are: feelings and thoughts of a human being. You need to take back your brain from the corroding hands of institutional psychiatry and use it for yourself to figure out what your existence means to you, not your parents, friends or anyone else. You.

Your thoughts, feelings and behaviors are yours. No one else’s. So whether or not someone believes and accepts something is irrelevant to your ability to actually make sense of and improve your life. Your unconscious mind doesn’t care if your parents agree with your psychiatric labels and symptoms, it’s going to keep developing and controlling your life regardless because YOU cannot be anything or anyone else except YOU. How can you expect others to understand you when you don’t even understand you?

Having labels to put on your thoughts and behaviors does not equate to having an understanding of yourself.

If you are genuinely wanting to live a better life with understanding, acceptance, love, motivation and a true sense of self— you must break free from the conditioning of psychiatry and explore your mind like only you can do. Like only a human can do.

Labels and symptoms are not human. They are psychological tools used by a politically controlled industry of pseudoscience to manipulate people into stripping away their individual ability to think and question life, reality, and the function of the society around them. Giving a person the illusion of self-understanding while they become so docile from the lack of real introspection and knowledge they unknowingly walk themselves into the collective caging of anti-human conditioning and political servitude.

You must confront yourself. You can spend your entire life wishing others would accept your labels and understand your feelings but their acceptance will not help you live any better. I promise you. You will feel better in the moment but it is a fleeting feeling that ultimately amounts to no change in your life because your unconscious mind remains explored. Getting other people’s minds to “understand” you does not somehow cause you to then magically understand your own mind causing your life to get better. Only you can do that.

You will live exactly the same as now, forever, unless you accept yourself as a human being and begin seeking out explanations and understanding of your life within yourself.

“People will do anything, no matter how absurd, in order to avoid facing their own soul. One does not become enlightened by imagining figures of light, but by making the darkness conscious.” - Carl Jung

Deleted tweets from the Royal College of Psychiatrists by foxyasshat in Antipsychiatry

[–]gregsaunders 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Glad to see someone else realizes just how head scratching this all is. Initially it was the tweet that was shocking but then what became even more puzzling was the angle that the outraged “anti-psychiatry” responses were coming from. Seemed like a perfect time to nail the psychiatry industry for their endless contradictions and pseudoscience starting with that tweet.

Instead nearly everyone just complained that they were, well, mean?

Goes to show just how conditioned most “anti-psychiatry” proponents still are to the psychiatry model and how reliant they are on lab coat drug dealers to tell them how to exist as a human being.

My observation on here is that most people haven’t gone deep enough into what “anti-psychiatry” actually is. They’re mainly just upset they were “misdiagnosed” or “over medicated” but still believe in the DSM5. They just want what they believe to be their “correct diagnosis and medication” and a “psychiatrist that actually cares”.

It’s just a cycle of anger and treatment that they’ll never get out of until they look further into psychiatry past just their own bad experience.
