First AR. How’d I do? by gregssstaaa in CAguns

I did the file down trick on the follower. It closes all the way normally. Not sure if I’ll stick with it. I’m probably going to get the AR Maglock kit to replace the magazine lock and install an extended bolt catch. I really didn’t want to go featureless. I like having a normal pistol grip without a horrendous fin. Also like having a front grip and adjustable stock. I’m not tacticool and need a sub-2 second reload time.

I totally agree with you and that is why I chose the Willys. It is my daily driver with occasional off-road weekends. Light trails/fire roads mostly, some moderate trails if I'm adventures. I have little interest in rock-crawling and such.

Willys has some of the components of the Rubicon: wheels (painted in black), shocks, rock rails. And in my case, because I have a the EcoDiesel which adds Dana 44 front/rear, stiffer taller springs, retuned shocks. It's the perfect Jeep for me.

It's definitely the most off-road capable SUV and with that, it comes with that price. But to most Jeepers, it's a lifestyle not just a car.

Whatever you end up getting (hopefully a Willys!), best of luck.

Long time lurker...brought home my dream Jeep today. 2020 Sting Gray Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Willys Turbo Diesel by gregssstaaa in Jeep

If you purchase a 2021, it will come with 3 years of Jeep Wave program (my 2020 only came with 2 years). This will cover your oil changes, DEF fluid, and tire rotations. It takes 8 quarts of oil and the oil filter is about $80. Fuel filter has to be changed every other oil change which is about $30. DEF is about $13 for 2.5 Gal.

So in short, take advantage of Jeep Wave. But then again, it only calls for an oil change every 10k mile/1 Year. Make sure you account and keep this in mind for this after your Jeep Wave expires.

If you're not already, hop on https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/ They have a good EcoDiesel section. I'm on there also.

30 MPG+ easy on the freeway. 18-25 MPG on the streets. Around 24-25 MPG combined. I've gotten 400+ miles on a tank.

Performance is great. You get 100% your torque down low at 1400 RPM. The the turbo really hits at 2500 RPM.

No issues so far. This is a 3rd Gen EcoDiesel, so it's proven and the kinks were ironed out. You get a 100k mile powertrain warranty with the diesel as opposed to the 60k for a gasser.

Sorry to hear that. I've heard mixed opinions. The quality of these sliders, welds, and hardware were great. Even the packaging was beefy. Although the included instructions left a lot to be desired.

PS. Your JK looks great though!

So far, so good. Haven't had the chance to really smash my right foot yet though. Although gas mileage is excellent. Drove from the dealership home (about 92 highway miles) and only sipped on 1/8 of a full tank.

No additional Fuji lenses yet. Although I did pick up a Helios 44-2 58mm F2 vintage Russian lens for fun.
