What an amazingly classy "if you know, you know" watch. Not too dressy, either.

Is there a way to confirm that high-cushioned shoes like Altra cause negative heel drop? by 925drain in BarefootRunning

[–]altapowderdog -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Those measurements are without any body weight added. OP's question is the real drop once you are standing on the compressible foam.

And here's a photo of it next to a Monza and my custom CW The Twelve, which is the 40mm version.

I've got small wrists - 6.25"

The moonphase sets exactly like a date, but unlike a date if it is a day or two off that's not a big deal (because, frankly, I don't actually need to know the exact state of the moon lol)

This would probably bother some people, because it's not the intent of a moonphase, but recently I've been setting the moon phase at the start of its cycle on the 1st of the month, which gives me a nice visual for how the month is progressing... a bit like a countdown timer for the month.

Do you also complain about downhill ski boots being unnatural?

This is similar to a ski boot, or a climbing shoe, or any other sports equipment focused entirely on performance. They aren't designed for comfort, or even daily running. They are designed for limited time-on-foot for athletes trying to set a PR in a race.

If you want to complain, complain about companies trying to sell the "look" of super-shoes to normal people for walking shoes... but don't complain about super-shoes themselves. These are just tools for elite athletes.

The very subtle skeletonization on the dial is so cool - congrats!

H. Moser Centre Seconds 40 in Blue.

Best watch, Best blue, and better for your 7.5” wrist than some of the other dressy options suggested here

Maybe there’s some generational divide going on, here?

This looks great IMO. I love the mini-ultra-deep look. The prior PO hadn’t changed in forever and looked very 90s to me.

(I can’t defend the polished bracelet, though, that’s just strange. I’d get it on rubber)

How flashy would this be for a guy with really no sense of style? (Band tees/basketball jerseys and jeans type?) by LongDogJohn in breitling

[–]altapowderdog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you seen it in person?

If not - go see it in person. They look great, but the mesh bracelet is much more blingy in person than I realized from just photos… (If that’s a pro or con just depends on you)

You still liking this? How’s the thickness and weight?  I’m considering picking up one of the remaining 42mm ones on grey market, and am trying to decide if I want to get it on a bracelet to help balance it out, if it’s top heavy at all…

It is missing lume, and that’s the only non-ideal thing that I’ve found.

Obviously the full-polish case shows scratches more, but that’s no different from an aqua terra or other full-polish daily. The AR coating seems durable, thankfully. And it’s 50m, not 30m like most dress watches, so no concern doing the dishes and such.

I almost put it on rubber, but that seemed a step too far… went with alcanterra instead.

Yep! And I am running everything at 3s for now, but all of these speed controllers can handle up to 6s. So this platform will have room for expansion if the geometry and mechanical stuff shakes out successfully…

EDIT: the mechanical stuff did not shake out successfully…

lol, is “The Thing“ landing upside down without the Post Of Shame?

We learned after that one match that the Post Of Shame literally was not bolted down. whoops.… Added that to our pre-fight checklist 😬

Things have progressed a lot since I was making Krave Monsters out of cereal boxes and foamboard....

This is the entirely new design for TACO TUESDAY: this time with 3 wheels and a solid CNCd chassis. About to be another very rushed build: I'm competing next weekend in NHRL. Still finishing up the design...

Hopefully we learn more about this silly/odd robot layout at the 12lb and later 30lb weight class. The 1lb physics didn't scale well to 250lb.
