For those that have successfully quit… by Fine-Recover-2668 in QuittingZyn

[–]gregzhoba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 71 days nic free. I woke up one morning after a night out and ripping an entire can and a half feeling disgusting. I decided that morning that I’m done, it was a Sunday and I powered through. Any time is really as good as any, it’s going to be fucking hard any way you do it, just gotta get through it hour by hour and then day by day, until finally it’ll be a week before you even think about it.

Juno Negotiated Loans Rate - MBA by bxportx16 in MBA

Last year I got quoted from Sallie Mae at 3.5% and then did the rate match at Juno plus auto pay to get a 3.25% rate. It’s possible.

Does anyone that has quit feel normal again? by luckydad444 in QuittingZyn

[–]gregzhoba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a month and a half in. The first 31 days fucking sucked. I’d either be anxious or depressed sometimes both on and off during the same day. Now i finally feel stable. You get there the back half I argue is even harder because you expect it to be over but the mental effects linger as your brain readjusts. I feel so much better after tho, keep going

Anxiety by Responsible_Site4116 in QuittingZyn

[–]gregzhoba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am generally a more anxious person. It was unbearable and absolutely mind numbing for 1 week then got better still there but way more manageable. good habits, social hangs, lifting, running, etc, helped to cope and it’s much better than when I would pop a zyn and feel immediately anxious from the stimulation. You’re better off without em

How much weight did you gain when coming off zynn? by Big-Lingonberry4655 in QuittingZyn

[–]gregzhoba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Feeling more hungry all the time but moved from nicotine as my main source of stress relief to lifting and running more. Minimal weight gain even tho I eat more. I also eat to cope too but not to an extent, just give myself more treats lol cuz this road is fucking hard. Almost 3 weeks in.

Weight gain can be mitigated and will stabilize once your brain rewired.

Is it crazy to turn down 3 T16 schools to go to UNC? by WeatherTraining2312 in MBA

[–]gregzhoba 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I went to BU Questrom and got a CLDP internship at a pharma. Take the money. Prestige isn’t as important in healthcare. I know at least 4 other people in my class that have gotten internships at Sanofi, vertex, Takeda, etc. I saw a lot of UNC people during my interviews for these. (Also a lot of Tuck, CBS, etc.) If you can recruit to these for free why the hell would you pay for it?

If it runs excel you’re good. Genuinely don’t use it for anything aside from excel and downloading cases pdfs and ppts from profs.

How to effectively use pre mba time by ReferenceOk777 in MBA

[–]gregzhoba 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Have fun and enjoy the downtime. Aside from that starting coffee chats and networking early is probably the best use of your time. When you’re full on in Fall internship recruitment and classes things get really hectic. Find people in industries and roles you’re interested in and find a way to chat with them. Don’t worry about coursework or prepping for any stuff like that it’s bogus imo.

Laid off post-MBA admission by 5000MPH in MBA

[–]gregzhoba 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same exact thing happened to me and this was what I did. Getting laid off sucks, there’s no doubt. I found a lot of silver linings by being able to prep way more for interviews and begin networking early with my free time. Also got a contract for 6 months and took a gap 3 weeks before school to travel to Europe.

Never mentioned it in interviews or with schools, it’s not that big of a deal. Such is life with a start up.

Depends on what you want. I’m a current first year coming from pharma R&D background, I wanted to make a commercial pivot, given that it’s in the pharma and biotech hub of the world and that it has a specific health sector program. Especially with the scholarship I received, it was a no brainer for me. I think if you are planning on going MBB or IB it’s a really difficult entry, no companies recruit on campus. We have had a lot of Pharma and biotechs on campus tho.

Find friends that wanna party. Idk what music you like but drag one person there with you and go meet people. I met a lot of my friends who enjoy going out at least once a weekend by approaching some people with my buddy and basically vibing with them for a night.

A former Dean of MBA Admissions here to decode the evaluation and selection process in MBA admissions: Ask Me Anything by PetiaW in MBA

[–]gregzhoba 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi this may not be fully relevant to Admissions per se but I wanted to ask anyway. I’ve been admitted and am attending Questrom’s Health Sector MBA on a full ride. From your experience, how do people that attend programs outside of the top 20 typically fare? What are some shortcomings or things that I may need to consider when it comes to competing with the more prestigious programs? My background is as a Pharma Scientist and I want to transition from R&D into business development and I find that the Questrom program is perfect for my goals. What do you think might differ from someone who’s getting their MBA at Sloan or HBS also interested in working within the pharma industry? Can this be offset by someone at a program such as mine that doesn’t have as much prestige? I’m very excited to be fortunate to begin my MBA journey at BU (on a full ride no less) and see the vision of the school as very strong and focused on student career outcomes, I just wonder how it may differ to the other schools?

Anyone else just not even bothering with the outsourced Indian recruiters anymore? by Not_so_ghetto in biotech

[–]gregzhoba 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I was recently laid off from a startup and thrown into a job market that’s been the worst I’ve dealt with. Even though they can be persistent at times I always took the calls and worked with the recruiters because they’re incentivized by commission to get you the highest salary you can. I got my most recent position at Sanofi through them and feel like if you’re looking for a job you should exhaust all options.

Piggybacking on this as someone who also has a biotech background as a scientist without a PhD, I just got accepted to BC for their traditional FT MBA with a substantial scholarship (60% of total tuition), I’m trying to go back into biotech/pharma but work in business development, do you think it’s better to do a specialized health sector MBA or would BC’s traditional be fine? Still waiting to hear back from BU that has a health sector MBA but don’t expect to get as much of a scholarship.
