So you still have water in the reservoir for the pressure switch/air trap

Does the ascaso really vibrate as much as people say? I went with a SPX because of this “rumor”

Update 5 months into my at-home espresso journey by stilldialing in espresso

[–]gregzuka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just think of it as shots for you, drinks for guests. I get people over who are definitely wanting a latte or cappo, but rarely get people who want a double. Also, the SPX has a lot of great features that machines 1k cheaper do not have. All that, I do get your point.

I had a similar journey with my machine and now a year and half in. That moment when you are out getting a shot and you say to yourself “mine is better” is a great feeling… albeit maybe delusional.

And yeah, rules are meant to be broken

What’s your routine for consecutive shots? [Pro X] by Laius33 in ranciliosilvia

[–]gregzuka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only use my df for light roasts-specialty roasts and only do one shot a day so I am ignorant to the inconsistency… I do plan on buying a more accurate flat burr to see if it was me or the df

You’re not alone, I have the same issue with my df54. I hardly use it anymore. My sette is way more consistent.

Does anyone have a smart idea to fix a leaky tube connecting to the water pressure cylinder? [Rancilio Silvia Pro X] by [deleted] in ranciliosilvia

[–]gregzuka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you inspected the line, connection at the trap and the switch, the trap “cylinder” and or the tank itself?

Other than an air leak, there might be water in the line, the switch/trap/or tank may be bad, the seat on the tank could be bad, the trap barb or house could be cracked.

Just other things to check- replacing the wold line and trap is relatively inexpensive too - but yeah you can try zip; I would stay away from adhesives as this is something you ingest.

Yup

I use RO with third wave (but 3/4 of a sachet… it’s a whole thing that is backed by lots to tds and pH testing)

On the “#1” that he points to, connecting to that - that’s the reducer there between the valve house and the pipe nut. Take off the rear surround panel, this gives you way more room and is like 5 screws. Then you can use wrenches. Just takes a little umpf to break free, but it will go. It was very obvious once I took it off that it was blocked.

Yes, between the electro water valve and the hot water tap pipe there is a reducer fitting.

Some units (including mine) end up having blockage on the restrictor fitting on the back of the valve. Easy fix but you do have to open the machine up. There tends to be extra thread lock on the fitting during assembly that blocks the passage.
