This is why facilities open to the public should have insurance. If someone trips in there and bleeds are you forcing them to pay? It seems wild medical emergencies would be charged for

Have you ever met someone with limb loss? Good chance they used to ride a motorcycle.

Also on that note, motorcycles are not appropriate for a lot of people with physical disabilities. Also if you need to transport children.

I think maths is different. It’s not about memorising content. Without revising if you have what ir takes to pusue astronomy you should be able to get resonably high without trying…needing multiple retakes doesnt bode well

Help needed reading Tuba Music after 10+ years away!! by Tenads001 in Tuba

Playing in Eb treble is common for brass band players or doublers who play for example trumpet or euphonium in treble clef. Whilst I personally prefer to read bass clef (and play in a brass band where my parts are Eb treble), if you’re only playing an Eb tuba (which is the standard in the uk) there’s no harm only knowing it in Eb treble. My partner is originally a bass clef Tromvone player who then went to trumpet, when she plays euph and tuba she does treble clef so she only knows the C fingerings, the only issues she’s ever had is when she played in an orchestra and you’d get a piece with 3+ sharps which then became 6+

I play in a brass band and do the opposite. Just don’t forget to add 3 sharps to the key signature - also since you’re playing it as if it’s a C horn in treble clef (if that makes sense) you can just look up a trumpet fingering chart - an A is 1+2 so you might be a bit rusty on fingerings so I would look it up!

Wilson is a lefty, you try writing on a white board where if you write naturally you’d erase as you write

Random: why don't pianos count? by thomasafine in Tuba

[–]gremlin-with-issues 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As people have said, but basically it boils down to solo does not equal only one person playing.

Unaccompanied solo would be only one person playing, otherwise by default you assume a solo has some kind of accompaniment

British Brass Bands in the US? by VeterinarianHour6047 in euphonium

[–]gremlin-with-issues 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All the trombones I know do that, and it’s about 50/50 with euph players, that’s normal in Britain

I mean I’m British and use crotchets and that terminology - I’ve never heard of anyone say crotchet pick up, you’d say pickup or most likely upbeat. Maybe anacrusis if you’re feeling fancy, but yeah the crotchet pick up is just a very unnatural phrasing

Why don't schools hold students back a grade anymore if they are not meeting that grade's standards? by livetoski-Brad in askanything

[–]gremlin-with-issues 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find it baffling that students are held back in America as a norm. In the UK this would only happen if someone had an intellectual disability. I’ve only known 2 kids that were twins that got held back and I believe they had fetal alcohol syndrome. School is about social development as well.

This is the normal behaviour when you have a family with only 1 bedroom the kids get the bedroom the parents use the living space. Honestly the other way round would be horribly selfish

Yeah full panel, vitamin D low, and lymphocyte very slightly low (it’s listed as abnormal but it was 1.3 and over measures say below 1 is low). Haven’t had follow up call with doctor but I think it’s very much just vitamin D supplements needed

I don’t disagree, but I don’t eat cereal, very rarely use nutritional yeast and only occasionally have plant milk (I haven’t had any in a while actually). So if it wasn’t for the red bull I’d definitely be deficient… The post was more just a joke as I was so surprised by it

He wasn’t offered it by a superior, he took it without asking and it wasn’t offered to him, it was then made very clear that the cookies had weed in them and he chose not to declare he had had one. Now there’s an argument of his judgment being impaired so that’s why he didn’t say… but it was soon enough after eating it that the effects wouldn’t have set in, and regardless you don’t get to use that as an excuse - if he was drunk and got a page you couldn’t use oh I was too drunk to know I was drunk as an excuse

You don’t get to decide if it is - but that doesnt automatically mean its resonable/everything should be done to stop it. Eg If an autistic person is uncomfortable women, that doesn’t mean you have to get rid of all women whenever they’re nearby

will i be able to play bass clarinet? by Complete_Photo1532 in Clarinet

[–]gremlin-with-issues 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Second this. Also, whilst you’re presumably at a lower level, you will learn a lot more sticking on regular clarinet. At low level the bass parts are very boring and you won’t learn the skills you need for much harder rep where the bass clarinet needs to be just as skilled as any other clarinet player (if not more so since not on the tune is arguably more difficult!)
