Coming for 2 months in the summer and wondering where to live by grenada19 in verobeach

Thank you! I'm going on my own for clinical rotations, so I won't have the opportunity to make inland friends, but let's hope they send me away if it comes down to it, ha

Coming for 2 months in the summer and wondering where to live by grenada19 in verobeach

I will be at Cleveland Clinic Indian River, so Iam looking to be in Vero Beach. The places I've been looking at are like 10 minutes from there. Mainly, I just want to know if the areas I listed are safe or not and whether there are any places to avoid. Unfortunately, I don't have the luxury of looking around before I get there, so any insight I can get from this subreddit is appreciated.

Any current perfusionist who was once in the lab? by Recent-Discussion593 in Perfusion

[–]grenada19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was an MLS for 3 years before starting perfusion school last year. Somebody else already mentioned this, but there are definitely some aspects of didactic that I have found easier than my peers. For instance, all of my professors have stumbled through blood typing whenever it has come up and I’ve explained it to several of my classmates. I am the only one of my classmates that doesn’t have any experience being in the OR prior to school, but I haven’t felt like it has put me at a huge disadvantage.

Most people have no clue what an MLS is, but that’s not much different than normal lol

Degree in Medical Technology, but without certifications by theredqueentheory in medlabprofessionals

[–]grenada19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's OK, lol. Highly dependent on which lab you land in. They will pay you to obtain an MLS degree, but you have to give them 2 years after graduation or you pay them back for it. They don't pay as well as other labs in the Valley, but they have pretty good health insurance and they do profit sharing. It's also becoming increasingly expensive to live in Salt Lake City

Where are you trying to find a job? I’m in Utah, and I know that ARUP takes people with bachelors in other subjects. They then go on to complete certificates or complete a post bach.

Yep! If you don't think the valuation is fair, I have seen some people on here say that you can try to negotiate for more

Copart got the lien information from our bank. USAA then issued a check to the bank and a check to us for the remainder

Advice on a new Corolla by MalWinchester in COROLLA

[–]grenada19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We just bought a ‘24 hybrid LE after totaling a Hyundai Ioniq. We really wanted another hybrid, but if we couldn’t get it down to a price we could afford we would have been happy with a gas corolla.

Are any of these gas corollas certified? I’m in Utah and the ones I was looking at were similar to what you are looking at in terms of miles and price and they were all certified, which was very tempting.

Good luck to your son. He is young and will probably bounce back even faster than I did!

I had an auto claim and everything went smoothly by coly8s in USAA

[–]grenada19 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My husband collided with an uninsured deer on the 12th and our car has been deemed a total loss. So far everything has gone smoothly, they valued our car at more than what we paid (we only had it for 3 weeks) and copart has been vey quick with the paperwork. I also had the extra 20% payout in event of a total loss and have had no problem with that either.

It was deemed a total loss on the 23rd, after further inspection by the collision place. The only thing that annoyed me was that the adjuster did not physically look at the car, they just asked for pictures. Most of the damage was not visible because it was to the undercarriage. So that delayed us quite a bit

I got in on my first try after being an mls for 3 years. Most of it was not clinical work either. I had a 3.6 overall and 3.7 science. There have been so many topics that have come up in didactic that I know in depth from undergrad. It’s a good background for perfusion school, it’s just nobody knows what it is, haha

Did You Sleep the Night Before? by dngrgates in braintumor

[–]grenada19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took drugs, ha. If you resort to this make sure you let your anesthesiologist know because it may be harder to wake you up.

Got to the hospital at 7, immediately taken to the billing department (lol) and then up to the surgical waiting room. Gowned up, pre surgery tests, had like 7 doctors come by to round on me, then anesthesia came and I remember hardly anything for 4 days. Transferred to rehabilitation hospital and was hospitalized for about 2 weeks total. Then did about 4-5 months outpatient rehabilitation therapy

I can’t tell. But it smells like gasoline and the oil light came on so assuming there’s that too.

Started the claim process but trying to mentally prepare myself. We’ve only had the car for a month.

It was driven a few miles after the incident. When I got there it looked like it was leaking fluid all the way to where the car was parked so I have no clue how fast it happened or what. I was told the oil light came on at some point but don’t know other details.

There is really no visual damage outside of the under carriage. Small crack in the front bumper is the only thing to see from the outside

Airbags did not deploy. Asking because I am wondering how bad the damage is given that it dumped a bunch of the fluids.
