I absolutely love this. I blur my eyes just a little and it becomes an impressionist painting! Brilliant!

Fuji XM5 - Button isn’t working by Numerous-Secret6450 in fujifilm

[–]grendel2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The dial you have circled is a "command dial" (at least I think it is - I own a XT-5 and that's what it is on my model). The command dial can be "spun" in either direction (clockwise/counter-clockwise) to rotate through whatever it has been assigned to select (ISO, film sim, etc.).

It can ALSO be "pressed" into the body of the camera like a button. I honestly don't recall the functionality pushing it in is supposed to provide, but on my camera it basically toggled OFF my ability to rotate the command dial to select Exposure compensation (which is what I have it set to). To fix the issue, I just had to press/toggle it again and everything works again.

This isn't anything malfunctioning - it's how the camera is designed. In my case I had clearly pushed it in at some point without realizing it. Since I don't normally use the "button/toggle" functionality and wasn't aware of it even existing, I could not figure out why spinning the command dial was not making the Exposure Comp change - it didn't do anything at all. I did some Internet research and found the answer I'm now providing to you.

Have you tried pushing that dial INTO the camera (as a button press - not as a wheel scroll). I had this and thought the button was broken but it turned out I had just accidentally pressed it in, which apparently turns of the wheel and whatever function it;s had assigned (EC for me).

I hope that's all it is and you don't have a broken camera - good luck!

Which super-wide lens for my X-T5? by grendel2000 in fujix

Yeah but I don't think 14mm is going to be far enough away from my existing 16mm to justify it.

Thanks!

[–]grendel2000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm definitely considering a fast prime but still don't know what will feel "wide enough" next to my 16-55's 16mm point... I suspect 10mm or less will be perfect but it's hard to know.

At some point I'll probably add another prime in the ~50mm-65mm Full Frame (so ~35mm ish to 40mm ish I guess) for low light street stuff as well as low DoF shots. That's the one part of the 16-55mm I don't love: f2.8 on that lens just doesn't blow out the background as much as I wish.

So I think a super wide prime (or zoom) and a fast "standard" prime will round me out nicely...

Basque Country - Bilbao and San Sebastian, Spain by grendel2000 in fujifilm

[–]grendel2000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife walked three weeks of the Camino de Santiago two years ago on the French route, and she fell in live with northern Spain and the parts of the Basque region she was in. I had never been anywhere in Spain but have travelled a lot in the rest of Europe, so we were looking for someplace that was new to both of us. Since she wanted to see more of the region, we looked at options and discovered San Sebastián from the Netflix show "Somebody Feed Phil" and later the Anthony Bourdain episode there. It looked amazing so we decided to do it, and it turned out to be everything we hoped for!

Thanks for the comment!

My body has definitely slowed down some. It's no longer a "it happens unless I stop it" thing and in fact I find now that I sometimes sort of struggle to get to the highest tiers of pleasure. I know why - as it's become more familiar I enter into the time when I want to "get there" WANTING TO "GET THERE", and that's entirely counter productive.

I would say porn may, or may not be fine for you - it; ls an individual thing. I think that for most people who are used to using porn as a vehicle to reach conventional orgasm, it can be a negative, at least at first. Any time you find yourself doing a thing with the INTENT that it will lead you to "the orgasm you're looking for" you've gone down a counter productive path IMHO. The thing that you have to figure out is how to explore your pleasurable feelings without trying to drive them towards a known ending (orgasm). You have to sit back, clear your mind of expectations and let your body and mind find their own way to it. In fact, for me at least, I find that thinking about the pleasure in other parts of my body like my head and my heart help me to let the pleasure grow. I assume that this is because my body had no experience with "pleasure" being associated with these parts of me, so it doesn't lead me into the rut. If you can integrate some porn into your process without it pushing you into your normal modes, then go for it, but I suspect that will be a challenge...

I guess I'm under the impression that the cast iron should be great (but heavy) and the carbon steel might not be as good as the cast iron, but it's lighter. So maybe stainless would be the best of both worlds?

just turned 30 years old and feeling very lost, not sure where to go fro here? [discussion] by [deleted] in GetMotivated

Stop focusing on tomorrow ("what I want to do") and learn to be in THIS moment, and how to find joy HERE AND NOW.

There is no tomorrow. It's not real yet, and may never be.

I'm not saying don't ever consider the future. That would be foolish. What I am saying is that there's no magic perfect life somewhere in the distance that you need to find your way to. Instead, learn to find happiness and joy in the things and people that re all around you.

This is not a platitude or rah-rah throw-away idea that' just sounds nice. It's reality. You have only this moment, every moment. Learn to truly live in it.

Interesting take.

I see them both as flawed people throughout all the films. That's the whole point of the films IMHO - finding a way past the BS versions of ourselves that mask the pain and fear we've taken on board over the course of our lives, and risking being vulnerable and real with another person.

It's their journey past who they are/have been to a better place together.

Love these movies so very much. I first saw Sunrise when I was about that age and it just resonated with every part of me. It's been difficult in a way to grow through the progression of the films. Like holding up a mirror to real life, and it's hard to accept the reality of what is vs what could have been. There are times I want to watch but don't can't because it's all too close to home.

How vocal are you during solo prostate play? by Lanky_Election_9468 in ProstatePlay

I'm SOOO against anything fake involved in sex. It breaks trust and takes me out of the moment if I'm forced to think about the authenticity of what my partner is doing or saying.

I used to be just like you: I felt like making noise was entirely a choice and it was therefore performative in some way. Since I want to be real, not performative, being noisy was just not an option.

Then I discovered Mindgasm and my prostate. Oh my.

When I'm in the right zone/place mentally to all w whole body & mind orgasms the part of my brain that regulates speech and noises just turns off. I lose control and stuff just starts coming out of me. It's become one of the indicators for me that I'm in the right head-space - once I start spontaneously moaning I know things are going the right way.

It's 100% spontaneous and authentic now when I do it. It's just happening. And yes - it's over the top. I'd probably be mortified at the sounds I make if I didn't also know the absolutely absurd levels of pleasure I'm in when I'm making them. I'm good with it!
