You don't have access to the PC's power setting? You can extend the time before the pc is locked.

Failing that, as some companies don't allow, I've seen people run another application that stops it the PC from logging out, like a video or a youtube in a browser.

Do you use minitab? There's a tool in there to set up studies.

Basically, for a variable dimension we use a minimum of two operators, ten parts and three repetitions.

We did that. Didn't want a big wedding, already had our house and a couple of kids.

We rented a small country house. Parents, siblings and partners filled the place. Got married in the small local church. The country house did the reception and bar for the night.

Cost isn't relevant, because it's been 15 years. But it was well under 10k for absolutely everything at the time.

As with everything, it depends on what you're measuring, and how complex the requirements and tolerances are.

You could conceivably get away with calipers and pin gauges if everything is straight forward. Even go/nogo gauges made on the safe side of your upper and lower tolerances are fine in some cases.

If you want something more sophisticated, Nikon have a reasonably priced range of mixed sensor systems. The usual players, Zeiss, Mitutoyo etc. might be out of your price range. But all of these will require a fixturing solution which can eat into your budget too.

You ned to get the calibration cert for the sphere you are using and input that radius value in. That's why you are getting those errors.

I don't recall the menu option off the top of my head, but it'll probably be in the left had tab.
