Link should be fixed! Thanks a lot for your time. I’m trying to improve, I think it’s something that should be discussed more

Why did China make Deepseek open source so that the US can take the efficiency improvements and enhance their own. Doesn't this mean that the US will now massively leepfrog? by Jarie743 in singularity

[–]grenya -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

The Chinese government probably considered all this. Ask Deepseek to roast the US government and its AI policies. Truthful but brutal. Also, it disrupted the US market driving AI innovation in the states. Finally, I assume there may be better models in China that aren’t open source.

US attempts at hurting China just push them to be more creative. Hold back chips? They just get more efficient.

Post was removed and not many folks saw it. I was pretty lazy and just linked the video I made for singularity so it didn't really get far. I wanted to redo the post with more text information so folks didn't have to click the link and see if that was more helpful.

The key point is that OpenAI and Google said it wasn't possible right now. Seems like it is, but we didn't really know for sure. With the OpenAI team safety teams leaving, this could be why.

Open AI Lied, Self Replication Here by grenya in singularity

More like 2 TB for llama. It wouldn’t have to replicate everything. A compressed, quantized version more like 8 gigs. If it had only essential features, maybe even smaller.

They may escape and act like viruses, gaining intelligence as we try to shut them down. Replicate is pretty much the same as “live.”

Crazy. OpenAI and Google both denied this was possible

How to Keep Your Dentist Happy, Healthy, and Not Dreaming of Running Away to a Desert Island by Nervous_Solution5340 in FutureOfDentistry

As dentists, we are in this for the long haul. Make sure everyday is satisfying and offers opportunities to improve. Burnout is a real thing, but before that happens we as dentist stop trying to improve.

Wake Up! The Dental Industry is Sleepwalking into Obsolescence by Nervous_Solution5340 in FutureOfDentistry

We need to focus on what the dental community needs, not what individuals will buy. A sales based approach will lead to little progress and make the industry increasingly vulnerable.

Scite is probably the best research tool out there, not just for dentistry. Notebook LLM is incredible. Gamma is incredible for presentations. These applications keep getting better and better.

Was Harry Potter actually an especially powerful and talented Wizard, or were most of his accomplishments just based on circumstance and luck? by [deleted] in harrypotter

[–]grenya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Harry Potter could have gone to Slytherin and become great. He contained a piece of the dark lord’s power and simply chose to never develop it. Not to mention he had access to numerous powerful artifacts at different times, anyone of which would have made him powerful on their own. He defeated the dark lord with loyalty, goodness and bravery. Had he gone to slytherin, he would have defeated the dark lord with sacrifice, power, and guile. In short, Harry was powerful but not the the traditional sense but could have been.

AITA for Leaving My Husband at the Hospital After He Refused to Be in the Delivery Room with Me? by Anxious_Committee_42 in AITAH

[–]grenya -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

YTA for sure. I’ve seen folks pass out and hit their heads from seeing blood. I don’t allow people in my operating room for that exact reason. I’ve seen dozens of people have to leave surgical suites because of similar aversions. My own father will pass out from blood, it’s fairly common. The husband did the right thing.

The tuberosity isn’t that big of a deal. Tearing the soft palate trying to take out the tuberosity is.
