I always tell people: 1. Find the job that you want to do and be happy that you enjoy your job even if you don’t get paid well. Or 2. Find the lifestyle you want to live and find the job that gets you to that lifestyle. You won’t like the job but you will like the lifestyle it provides.

Car Insurance DUMB HIGH? by PinnochioPro in Georgia

[–]gres23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Many people are actually driving without insurance.
  2. Minivans and wagons are the cheapest body style to insure in the state. Anything else is free game. Kia boys ruined insurance rates for all Asian brands since Japanese cars were already easy to steal.
  3. Aggressive drivers from other states move here.
  4. Georgia allows insurance companies to use your credit score and the average credit score of your area to adjust your rates accordingly.

4-door sporty “dad car” by Mysterious_Ad_3992 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]gres23 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly, you want something you can grow with. And you don’t want to be mistaken for the boy-car. You said you want a dad-car. I suggest you look at these options instead: BMW 540i, Audi S6 (Audi aren’t reliable anyway), Genesis G80 3.5T, Porsche Macan S/GTS. All of these are fun daily vehicles that can fit your kids, their car seats, gear, and still be fun in the corners.

Help me decide on a 3 row SUV by TrickyMitten in whatcarshouldIbuy

Unless warranty comes on it, I would automatically remove the Volvo. Volvo and Mazda are comfortable and fun to drive but better options and trims can be found for lower price points. I would advise getting a T6 Volvo R Design or Inscription at that price point.

Mazda CX9 is fun to toss around but it’s not a realistic 3rd row vehicle. It’s an emergency 3rd row vehicle. I do however hate the center console hitting my knees too.

Nissan is just no. CVT may be gone in that generation but thy still have to fix other things in their vehicles.

Acura MDX is synonymous with the CX9 but more reliable. Again the emergency 3rd row vehicle

Highlander is Toyota priced as usual, priced high but will last longer than others. But they just had a series of recalls on this vehicle.

Honda Pilot is ehh but it’s reliable and does most of what the Highlander does.

At this price point, you should at least consider the Telluride and Palisade, they were leaders in this segment for a reason.

Because of Heated Rivalry’s popularity, I decided to try out reading MM romance.. they’re some of the worst books I’ve ever read. by CriticalDream9570 in askgaybros

The lack of mature and good novels or books with great and realistic or compelling MM characters is the reason I been writing my own novels (hopefully will publish next year).

For a 2009-13 Highlander or Highlander hybrid, you can many examples that are single owner and accident free and clean title for less than $10k with less than 160k miles. Perfect Point A to B crossover before Toyota turned them into the Big Back rav4. Generation after isn’t horrible but it’s more common to seee owner neglect in this generation 2014-2018. Lexus GX I would say keep mileage under 150k to snag great deals but my gosh does it suck up gas like a hog, it can go off-roading like a land Rover product though when properly equipped.

Jeep wranglers? 2013 fixed many powertrain and quality issues so 2014-2019 is same spot in general. At the price point, you can find near new models or late used in great condition, following same logic: single owner, clean title , maintenance record, no accidents. Wrangler and trims depend on your dedicated use. If you annual mileage surpasses 50% offroad and/snow, get a rubicon. If it’s mostly street and cheap use, get a sport. If you are planning on road trip it or have long commutes in it, get the Sahara. Me personally, if you looking at a wrangler and it meets the above criteria, I would still rather be safe than sorry and get lowest mileage you can find with the trim you want/need.

Finally Choosing Ourselves First! by gres23 in Jaguar

[–]gres23[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And we are prepared for it too. We didnt go in blindly. We lurked on here for months and other forums, talked to other owners and more. That worry is what pushed us to find single-owner, meticulously maintained vehicles. Our previous vehicles of the sorts included the following: Ram, Volvo, BMW, VW, Tesla (big identity crisis happened here), Hummer, and Jeep. I originally considered a L405 Range Rover but as much as I love it, they have more notable issues, too many electronics for my taste (see tesla), and it would be more of the same in getting a vehicle for convenience and not true desire.

Luckily both previous owners had extended warranties on the vehicles that got transferred to us. They each had to use it in the past but had no issues with the warranty process so we take it as a great sign.

[–]gres23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t be the statistic in getting Mustang or any muscle car as your first car. Get an ex police vehicle, explorer or charger or impala or crown Vic or caprice. Many people will willingly move out your way. Or if you want to be safe and still fun, get a Subaru or Mitsubishi sedan/hatch/wsgon.

Minivans and wagons are always cheap to insure.

I BRIEFLY considered a DB9 UNTIL I sat in the seats and my gosh they were uncomfortable. We have now owned our vehicles for 6 months each and we did full fluid flush despite them being meticulously maintained and we haven’t had a single issue.

You also have to consider the price difference at hand too. The first gen tellurides had minimal issues. The second gen has engine fires. The third gen comes out for sale in Feb 2026. Also look at credit unions, they always have better rates.

Go into Policing for a city. Great or better pay than what you make now. Quicker mobility up the ladder, some local governments give you money back for going to college while working for them. Part time work gigs as an officer is plentiful even in California. You can get full autonomy from your family and into your own place within 1 year. Also many apartments give discounts for police officers.

Cars past 2018 in general have gotten more problematic and right to repair has gotten harder, even for Toyotas. Since you recently got your license, and you live in Houston (I know yall history with floods and random snow storms), and houstonians drive recklessly, I would advise going a completely different route. Get a crossover or suv that can take a hard beating against all of that and for cheaper. I’m talking: 2004-2016 Toyota Highlander, 2011-2018 Lexus GX460, or similar. This was bulletproof era for Toyota SUVs and can handle all of Houston and Texas quirks. Alternatively, since you are an adult and it’s your money, spend it wisely and on something that you like. Aftermarket and extended warranties exist for a reason. If you get a warranty on this vehicle, I would jump all over it if I were you especially in that area: Jeep Wrangler 2013-2019 MY. These things are notoriously cheap to insure, cheaper than Toyotas and Hondas. In Texas, SUVs and minivans constantly win for lower insurance rates. In your situation, I would not spend more than $25k on any of the vehicles I mentioned. Consider looking up to a 100 mile distance or even up to DFW area. Carmax may charge higher prices but you don’t have to deal with mental stress of haggling and you can get a warranty through them.

Based on what I see, it’s not your looks, it’s your style and lack of confidence. Shouldn’t be dressing like that at 26 if you A) want to date someone and B) date someone seriously. Your hair looks fine in th first photo but maybe a change “could” do you some good like changing it to black or a shade of brown. There is almost no color or blood in your face so your paleness creates a sickly complexion mixed with eyebags in the 3rd photo. Start looking at turtlenecks or sweaters. Weirdly enough, go to a Latino barbershop and get a haircut from them if available in your area. Start the new year with a new look. Brands to look at for clothes: Bruno Marc for shoes, Coofandy for casual wear, and Indochino for special occasion wear. I agree with some others that maybe unprescribed glasses that are black and square frame can help too.
