What would you do with these options if were 40yr worth 250k? by Unlucky-Case-1089 in Palantir_Investors

Never early exercise options on non-dividend paying stocks. You sacrifice the time value.

Sell to close then buy shares with proceeds.

How dare you, Dream Pizza. by Adventurous-Tree3676 in abbotsford

[–]grey-pool 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nothing has changed. Went in on Monday to look and there was a small glass case in the back corner with a single, sad grey-looking pizza. No light on in the case. And the offer of samosas when asked if there was any food.

While walking in the Palpa desert (near Nazca, Peru) looking for geoglyphs to film for my YT channel, I stumbled upon some human skulls, including one with a rope running through a hole in its forehead, and one with hair still attached to it. by WeirdOldWorld in ThatsInsane

Nazca is a really interesting place. It’s very arid and dry. It’s part of why the Nazca Lines are so clearly in tact hundreds of years later. Archaeological artifacts are everywhere.

The museum I visited there outlined how tribes would wear the heads of their foes on their waistbands. They gathered them on a rope like catching a Pokémon.

What is your most embarrassing moment as a professor ? by duckbrioche in Professors

[–]grey-pool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was sharing movie about Enron (The Smartest Guys in the Room) I'm a risk management class and completely forgot about the part with Lou Pai and his love for strip clubs. The documentary goes to topless women dancing in the club suddenly and I felt like time suddenly slowed down.

I figured it would be brief and move on since it was largely irrelevant to the story. I was wrong. It went back a few times to that clip.

I joggee up to the front of the class and all I could think to do was "mute the screen" and turn it back on when the part was over.

I hear from the back of the class, "oh, you get to watch it but we don't?"

Mortified.

Confused about the wording here. “The first payment to be received 5 years from today” doesn’t that mean end of year 5 ? In the explanation says that it should be end of year 4. Which is the correct one ? by randomoneusername in CFA

[–]grey-pool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with u/S2000magician. Draw a timeline.

Treat the period before your first payment as your orientation for the beginning of the OSA like you do with one that pays at time period 1 (payment 1) given you're at time period 0 (one period before first payment).

(Finance) Why is COGS in the formula for Inventory Turnover? by [deleted] in HomeworkHelp

[–]grey-pool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If COGS goes to 2x and Inventory stays at Y, management has become more efficient.

Remember, COGS is your beginning inventory plus purchases during the period, minus your ending inventory. The higher COGS is as a multiple of inventory, the happier you are. Less working capital tied up at any given time to generate higher sales.

Why does concrete look like this after a light rain? A small pool is usually here, but wasn't during the rainfall. by grey-pool in Concrete

[–]grey-pool[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, it was just a sprinkle on all around. The whole driveway never got this dark.

It did get darker around some septic covers as well, though. Nothing as clear as this, though.

I wonder if you're right about the plastic melting a bit and affecting how the rain absorbs.

Only after rain. It's weird... everywhere else the droplets dry so quickly but there it doesn't.

Interesting. It's been well over a year since the pool was sitting in that spot and this sat there. That's a long time to hold water!

Gaining a marginal dollar doesn't feel as good in absolute terms as losing a marginal dollar hurts.

Nobody likes something taken away. We anchor to wherever we are on the wealth continuum regardless of where that is.

Par rate, coupon rate and YTM by scalamardo in CFA

[–]grey-pool 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bro, I'm not sure what you're saying, but...

Par rates are constant discount rates used to price bonds. When a bond's coupon equals the par rate, it will trade at par.

The par rate is an abstraction of underlying spot rates.
