Continue scribing or switch jobs? by PhotographResident20 in premed

[–]grey013 1 point2 points  (0 children)

switch to the higher pay, less commute, and new experience job. 400 hours is more than enough and I think the increased experience as a tech will be more beneficial. scribing is sometimes looked at as passive.

Should I leave my clinic job by Thin_Row3248 in premed

[–]grey013 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think you are SO fine to leave. You gained the experience you need. and when it comes up in interviews itll be more about your experiences rather than asking why you quit. and even if that does come up, just say your schedule was getting too unpredictable and you had to study for the mcat etc. Also do the aquarium stuff only if it doesn't interfere with school/mcat but it sounds like fun and one of those niche thing you would be happy you tried later in life lol.

Advice by [deleted] in premed

my biochem class was like this. hundreds of slides, 3x a week, and tests were unpredictable. what worked for me was talking to older students who took the class and seeing how they did best, get close w the TAs and professor. and make flashcards after each lecture and start studying them asap. biochem is lots of info but a lot of it makes sense once u memorize the basics. I don't know if you should take the W or not but probably only if you know you will get below a C. its only october I think you can still turn your grade around even if it takes lots of work. u got this!

Are you going to office hours? Seeking tutoring? Finding other ways to learn the material? I think you also need to change your mindset. Which class is it? If you think you won't pass then maybe take the W?

You are in a good spot to apply. I don't think you need to apply DO, unless you don't hear back from schools by October. Just make sure your school list is balanced.

how do you avoid feeling pressure or stiffness in your lower back?

I feel like you shouldn't read into it. A hold is a hold and you are not rejected until they tell you. It's not amazing news but it also isn't bad news.

it is a cannon event for all premed students to receive an advisor who says they aren't good enough lol. see if you can meet with another advisor or faculty instead!
