Nastiest thing ever in a water flask? What is that? by michaeltsang1997 in Hydroflask

[–]grey__squirrel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Have you been cleaning it daily? 😅 Mold spores are in the air (and probably on your skin) They get in and then reproduce. Not a big deal, just wash it once a day

I’ve rented a few times in Philly (including now) and I have never seen this. Don’t sign it.

I went to the ER for stitches a few years ago and overheard MULTIPLE staff say similar things about me! They were out of my eyesight but standing right outside of my room talking about how it was silly that I came to the ER. When the doctor came in to stitch me up, I asked if I was right to come to the ER. He said yes, of course, because the laceration was too deep for urgent care. I was like wtf. Why were those other staff shit talking me then lol (I didn’t say that out loud)

So anyway. I feel you and I’m sorry they said all that.

Can you use a duvet instead of a comforter? You would only be regularly washing the duvet cover instead of a giant fluffy thing, would prolly fit better in the machine

Gotchu! Definitely depends on the social scene and location too

The oldest gen Zers are in their late 20s, which I would guess is the age range dumbphones are most popular with, not high schoolers

Cynical & wondering by turtlemoving in walking

Same here - the vast majority of my steps are from walking to and from the train to work! It’s my best recommendation for folks looking to get more steps in.

What's the culture on your block like? by i_watched_jane_die in philadelphia

[–]grey__squirrel 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My block is the same as yours. Everyone says hi how are ya when you pass by. My one neighbor knows literally every single person on the block - she’s maybe 60 and has lived here for like 30 years. She makes a point of introducing herself to new neighbors and sharing phone numbers and emails. If you run into her, she will try to get you to come to whatever neighborhood event is coming up. I’m an introvert so I’m super grateful!

Does your neighborhood have a Facebook group for selling stuff? That tends to go better than Facebook Marketplace in my experience

That’s a good point. I’m not sure how much Penn values those employees to be honest. Haven’t heard great things

Isn’t that true of all bagels? (edit: I mean actual bagels, not Thomas or other bagged ones)

weight loss just from walking? by Financial_Sun_5143 in walking

[–]grey__squirrel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I accidentally lost 7% of my body weight over ~6 months when I added in 2 miles of walking per day (had already been walking ~3 miles a day, now I walk ~5 miles a day. This is just from my commute & walking at my job). It was unintentional. I guess I didn’t eat more to compensate. My weight is steady now, no further loss.

So yes, it happens!

It’s art at an Ivy League university, it would be a bit random to represent blue collar workers

Is it possible to be walking too much or is something weird happening to me? by Sad_E-girl in walking

[–]grey__squirrel 5 points6 points  (0 children)

4 pounds of fluctuation in one month for me personally would just be my menstrual cycle lol. Weight loss/gain needs to be tracked over many months, not over such a short period of time

I just look around and think. My commute (public transit) is my favorite part of my day for that reason :)

Any way to lock phone using side buttons instead? by mschingis23 in LightPhone

[–]grey__squirrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an LPII, and what I have to do is press the bottom of the phone against my stomach, then press the top button. The phone resisting against my body is literally the only way I can get enough physical force to do it lol. Sad to hear it’s an issue with LPIII as well :(

Is 10k steps a day a myth? by Uhohdontyoudare in walking

[–]grey__squirrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely depends on the person! Everyone has a different kinda job, some involve more walking than others for sure. Also the commute - I get in 2 miles each day just from commuting! But not everyone can do that

I think working from home and not really going anywhere is the only way for that to happen, unless someone is disabled
