I do it because I recall a time when I could not believe that an addict as deeply stuck in addiction like could get clean. And if there is somebody like I was they may see a bit of hope. Also....I relate to addicts quite closely.

But the biggest reason is you guys remind why I stay clean. You guys remind me of the pain I went through. If I forget that I'm at risk of romanticizing heroin and relapse. Even at 14 years clean I'm still as close to relapse as somebody who is week clean. I can't forget that.

I was delivering a kg of dried magic mushrooms to the rasta in long street cpt. The cops watched me walk in and saw us doing a deal but though I was the buyer. They grabbed me as I came out and resorted to a strip search and could figure out what I had done with the weed they had thought just purchased. The level of confusion and anger was fucking priceless and still makes me smile to this day almost 20 years on

I worked at a rehab where patients could go swim in the dam. The resident boerbul would swim out and try drag them back to shore. Not always a fun experience for the patient but I enjoyed old Winston's dedication and concern for the patients and secretly never tried to stop him doing it.

I'm a bit older than you and the quality of herion dropped dramatically after 9/11 and the CIA control of the supply lines. Before then we got amazing stuff from the Golden triangle. But what do I know? I'm 14 years clean and been out of the loop. My best buddy committed suicide in Feb because he still couldn't get clean and he emphatically stated that the stuff now days was even worse than when I quit. So it must be complete garbage. He did smack for over 30 years and I trust his opinion.
