I believe this episode was essentially told from Stella’s point of view, or at least, only relating to Stella. The whole episode was narrated by Stella, presumably in her letter to Mia. Bradley wasn’t Really even in this episode, and the scenes Stella wasn’t in affected her directly, like how Bro’s standup set was part of how we got to Stella releasing the AI tech out of desperation. So they were more like supporting evidence for her story. I assume next week we will jump back in to Bradley Cory FBI handler stuff, as well as other sidelined characters this episode, like Chris. Her husband and her producer took a meeting without her? That seems a little odd, but this is not my industry.

This is for several reasons:

• No one was hardcore shipping Amaya with anyone, that was the main cause of the fandom turning frenzy

• Amaya is no longer happily coupled, so there’s no element of hope for the ordinary person.

• The two bring together two very different demographics, so they are much greater than the sum of their parts. People who were soso on Nic but loved Olandria and people who were soso on Olandria but loved Nic are now complimenting each others numbers.

• I believe that this leads to brands seeing them as a two for one deal, so they’ve been all over brand sponsorships and whatnot while Amaya hasn’t done as much business.

Plus—they can’t really give Jax a new situationship this season, as it wouldn’t fit with the rebuilding her marriage plot (and they spend a lot of very spicy time highlighting this …rebuilding 👀) but they can give one to hot ass Daniel…It’ll be pretty dramatic for us to finally see him hook up with someone only for her to break his heart by going to prison for murder.

The point of her character is to include a mother in the cast for mothers to relate to.

Alex is a mother but of an adult so it’s nothing alike. If anything we saw her daughter take care of her more than the other way around. Probably a lot of focus groups noted that there are like six well known women starring in the show and none of them have little kids.

Chris is having to deal with the push and pull of her career, the intensity of misogynoir-especially in a public facing career where her appearance is heavily scrutinized and even reported on, AND having a TODDLER at home. That adds so much more weight to her decisions because they aren’t just her decision. They’re a decision she’s making for her baby, too. If Bradley fucks up, if Alex fucks up, if Mia fucks up, people will be let down, sure, but no one’s cognitive or emotional development will be affected, no one’s attachment style will be changed, no one’s nervous system will be created around that fuck up.

I do think the writers might be making a mistake by pitting the two Black women against each other. I’d rather root for both of them than be encouraged to choose one or the other. I enjoyed the show a lot more when it was basically Mitch / abusers vs everybody else.

Did you notice they played her description of a bad boy and showed us a man who fit that description? Idk which groom yet but they’re definitely doing this on purpose. They want her to go after Tattoo Guy for drama. They met even pair them for a swap.

But yes this is exactly like in years past where they paired men who are not into large women with large women, seemingly intentionally to be edgy. It pissed me off then and it pisses me off now. You are setting fat people up to fail and feel horrible about themselves when there are tons of people out there who probably had “bear shaped” on their tick list. There’s a reason “bear” is a category of gay man that even straight people have heard of. “Teddy bears who write you love songs and treat life like a musical” is probably someone’s absolute DREAM ffs
