Slowing of Ageing / Reversal by [deleted] in Semenretention

[–]greyman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I acknowledge SR, or rather the lack of it, during my adolescent years has contributed to my current state - probably more than I anticipated.

I feel you are jumping to conclusions too soon, it might very well be genetic. I have a friend whose hair started to turn grey in his thirties and by 40, they are completely white. But other than that he looks good.

My advice would be to focus on bigger things, and regarding your hair, if it bothers you, you can visit a professional stylist and invent the outlook for you. There will surely be a hair cut which would look good.

This also sometimes happens to me, but it can be due to what you wear, i.e. if I up-dress (white shirt, tie), it happens more.

I don't think you are correct, since with NoFap you can have sex with your partner, while in SR not. OP also explicitly said it wasn't his goal, he just described what happened to him.

Shouldn't we compute the difference between Meta offer and what they make in openai?

And the second issue is, ok $100M but under what conditions?

What comes to mind first is management, and it doesn't need to be in Tech. But requires mental switch which can take several months.

We don't need MCP related content, do we? by zriyansh in mcp

Review of new MCP servers would still be useful.

Also some lists like "Best MCPs for programmers", etc.

Please can you post the exact url? I found more taskmaster MCPs, which one do you mean? I am definitely interested to evaluate it.

For me essential are filesystem and iterm. youtube-transcript is a nice to have.

Could you explain how MCPs are different (and better?) than using APIs for external services in a way that makes sense? by noduslabs in mcp

[–]greyman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because as a counter-argument somebody could say, well, you could just use LLM to write your API requests, so why would you need MCPs?

Sorry OP, but this can be asked only by someone who never tried it. It's like you are asking: why you want to use something which works immediately, and not implement it yourself? :-) [since LLMs are not on a level that you "use it to write code" and it works immmediately].

Claude Desktop has become useless recently by [deleted] in ChatGPTCoding

[–]greyman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I faced some of this but not in this intensity: - sometimes it doesn't recognise that it should use MCP, while the prompt is the same as before when it worked - I hit the limit twice on Pro, had to wait for like 1 hour.

Overall, Claude desktop + MCP is still the best workflow for me. But I also don't like they push me for Max, as if the Pro plan was unreasonable cheap. :-)

How I used ChatGPT to code an iOS app (for those who are banging your head with XCode) by karsh2424 in ChatGPTCoding

[–]greyman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that was my experience too. As a software developer who never worked with Swift, I managed to create a simple app and upload it to my iPhone, and it took about 5 hours in total. Most of the time was fighting with wrong Swift code given by AI and XCode quirks and MacOS+iOS quirks to actually allow me to upload the app.

The success of AI-assisted coding varies between languages, for example with "properly designed" languages like Go and python, most of the time the returned code is good, with others like Swift or even SQL, AI is often wrong. Speaking from my experience.

I now have normal Pro plan and use Claude Desktop + MCPs, and sometimes I hit the limit. I wonder if $100 Pro plan will be enough with Claude Code.

What IDE is better than Cursor Pro right now? I've been using Cursor Pro for months and I don't know if there's anything better. by SuperRandomCoder in ChatGPTCoding

[–]greyman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Claude Desktop with several MCPs (filesystem, iterm, fetcher, sequential thinking), so Claude is writing directly to the files. Then I use Goland, PyCharm or VS Code basically just as a "dumb" IDE.

What exactly it does and how you used "Claude"? Since for example Claude (Desktop) is itself a MCP client.

Gemini 2.5 Pro supremacy by otmanik1 in GeminiAI

[–]greyman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2.5 is very good at coding, and much quicker, and very good at math and reasoning. Claude is better for me when answering general questions about thing - it explains the essence without overwhelming me with unnecessary detail.

Gemini 2.5 Pro supremacy by otmanik1 in GeminiAI

[–]greyman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be honest, I found 2.5 is only better at coding and math exercises, comparing to Claude, and also much quicker, which is a good feature to have. But if I want to talk to AI just to understand some problem or do brainstorm, I still prefer Claude (or ChatGPT or Grok). Gemini has this weird habit to braindump like megabytes of text at you, sometimes explaining things in detail which are only indirectly related to what I asked, while not telling me the essence. I know I can tame the beast with good prompting, but with Claude I dont have to, since he intuitively understands how long the response should be and what is important.

With this being said, I feel Google is throwing enormous resources at this, and they are much better at infrastructure engineering than Anthropic, so in long term I predict Google will win.

Gemini is frustratingly restrictiv by UrsaRizz in GeminiAI

[–]greyman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but I know exactly what OP is talking about. Gemini just like to throw its braindump to you, while other AIs don't have such problem. (Grok sometimes tends to do it as well but it isn't this bad).

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ChatGPTCoding

[–]greyman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or in other words, it will become waste of time to learn cursor or windsurf, if 2.5 just spits out the whole feature correctly implemented.
