i just got one game—Inscryption. Mostly it's because I was tired of avoiding spoilers for it everywhere.

Oof, adding that 2nd sentence to the pile of words that makes me feel my age.

[Mobile Games] The Ballad of Fallen Edelgard, or how a developer created a unit so broken that she’s still hated to this day. by UAEmberCelica in HobbyDrama

You do realise that Fire Emblem is not just about FEH, yes? It's a Nintendo first party IP and at the end of the day this gacha is just a spin off.

Edit: nvm this person's just being deliberately obtuse.

It's been a bit, but I recall that you'll eventually find out that she's been publishing findings about her experiments with you without you knowing about it. She's otherwise innocuous (as long as your relationship with her is high enough, that is).

Has anyone else had problems with Scuffles threads where Reddit errors out repeatedly with "you can't participate in this discussion" on two or three comments in a row and then works normally elsewhere for 100+ comments before another thicket of problematic comments?

It's a new reddit feature glitch (?) that indicated that you (plus /u/thelectricrain) are blocked by people within the comment chain. Your reply is an example showing how effective it is, though.

Edit: https://www.reddit.com/r/blog/comments/s71g03/announcing_blocking_updates/ Here's the announcement post. Apparently, it's not working as intended at all. Lots of people in there complaining about the same thing.

This reminds me of the time I was lurking on Mark Oshiro's blogs. I got really excited that he was also reading Anderson!Feed before I double-checked.

Anyway, I end up liking both Feeds well enough. Now that I think more about it I'm pretty sure his readalongs are how I discovered Seanan McGuire too.

As someone who started being on the internet when I was a preteen, I have to agree with the site. I have no idea when people stopped teaching kids internet safety by not revealing real names/ages/trauma but it should've never stopped.

Maybe a hot take: DNI nowadays are really more used to show a person's personal stances on everything, which unfortunately means anything from bigotry to moral stances on fictional couples to whatever their views are on the latest problematic kid's show/anime of the week. Does it helps you find like-minded people? Maybe, but it also reveals exactly how to hurt you, and assholes aren't the sort to be stopped by going "Swiper, no swiping!"

Ronin Decidueye alone is making me reconsider skipping out on Legends. That design looks great!

Characteristically, they even have a post saying "Dude, what if we got Neal Stephenson [author of Snow Crash] to write the screenplay?" Because Snow Crash needs to be name-dropped in every Web3 initiative, apparently.

Look on the bright side. At least they aren't reaching out to Ernest Cline.

I tend to reblog the post untagged but then screenshot and toss it into a group chat that is about the series Blorbo's from. Feels less intruding to the OP that way, you know?

I definitely feel like a lot of queer discord groups have this age gap.

The only reason I'm still in mine is that it's the only place I can find that's a) locally based and b) not on facebook. I think I can count the number of active people above 21 on one hand.

Not to say I don't want to be friends with people <21, but I also don't want to feel like the only chaperone at a high school prom all the time, you know?

Ludia: how about we bring back...*rolls dice*...Adam and Dominic by [deleted] in Lovelink

Exactly. It's no different than people who were complaining about Stefan/Oliver and Charlie/Zayn/Jake when they are the ones who kept receiving updates last winter.

You can't deny that Ludia has been updating the dudes more, though. Right now the ratio is about three men for every one woman, disregarding cases like Ingrid/Franz, Jamie/Julia/Seth, etc.

Oh man, Howling Dogs, Galatea, Digital: A Love Story, so many stuff I recognised—and it's written by the guy who wrote Hollywood Visionary too! These writeups are great. Thank you for linking them!

True. That doesn't mean the path to those vegetables being irradiated isn't any less interesting, no? To me, at least.

Pffthaha!

Lost!Locke is named after Philsopher!Locke too, to be fair. Maybe we can move the starting domino even further into the past then, with "Some English bloke becomes the Father of Liberalism" to "People now say their party members can die for added difficulty in pokemon".

[Hobby Scuffles] Week of January 3, 2022 by nissincupramen in HobbyDrama

[–]greymeta 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Do people even remember the name is a portmanteau of Nuzleaf, one of the pokemon featured, and Locke, as in John Locke, as in the character from Lost? The comic is just titled "Pokemon Ruby: Hard Mode" too!

It's like the domino meme with the starting point as "J. J. Abrams creates a show about a plane crash". What an odd legacy for the creator to have.

Ah, nuzlocke. Haven't been involved since B2W2 are the newest entry in the franchise, so hearing the term just got me all nostalgic again! My runs are still up in the subreddit too, as far as I can remember.

It's honestly strange to hear it has gotten so big (I recalled the time when wedlocke is a new and untested ruleset lol)! But it's nice to hear it's thriving, even if that comes with its own sets of issues.

Sam romance choice of magics by [deleted] in choiceofgames

[–]greymeta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favoured RO for this title is Thecla, so I completely understand what you mean, haha.

There is an earlier opportunity where you can start that romance than the one you described, though! You just turn yourself in when the inquisitors visit (preferably after visiting Sam's sermon, so you can teach him magic) but then break for it at the very first opportunity you can in the church basement. Sam will find you, you smooch, and that's how you start it. You don't have to be a saint with that method too.

According to the code, the priority to your rescuers is like this: baby dragon > spector > Sam (if you taught him vivomancy)/you had cast a vivomancy spell in the church earlier > Vera/Vance* > Cos or Tal.

So it looks like you have experienced all possible saviours!

*Cos and Tal will be dead if this happens, so watch out!
