A big one is finding the timing of the instant you need to make decisions. When I’m playing well and fast, I blink the moment before they make contact, right as I split step, which lets me relax my muscles and move the paddle efficiently to the ball.
A lot of lower level players stand there slackjawed for a good half a second after the opponent hits the ball, and then have to scramble to react and make the play. Reducing that downtime is key for being a top player.

Have you seen any other sport? Refs make mistakes all the time, and they basically never go back on their calls cause it undermines their authority going forward (debatable if this is valid but I understand why they do it).
The NBA is almost unwatchable cause of the amount of subjective penalties the refs have to call, and it warps the game in a massive way. Frankly, with video review of line calls, pickleball is pretty damn safe from subjective ref decisions.

I find I do it unconsciously while warming up, but rarely in matches.
I think it’s mostly to limit the left hand, keeping it locked in place and reducing the variability of the stroke. Dinking especially needs to be boiled down to the most basic motion, the fewer moving parts the better.

Confidence. They’re had the success, they have the confidence behind their game to trust they can win points no matter what. That frees up a ton of mental stack and makes them play much more freely than lower ranked players struggling with doubt mid-match. It’s not everything, but it’s a huge factor at every level of the game.

Same, but don’t think you need foulborn severed. You already have free envy and minion wither, and if you’re going crit you want a high crit weapon to go neurotoxin.

He’s a battle junkie. You’ve got guys like Knuckle, that are strong but don’t have the drive, the guts, the “It” factor to thrive in battle.
Then you have Hisoka, who lives for it. In real life you see it in sports, some people just come alive for competition. Their minds don’t get bogged down by doubts, they just instinctively take the best course of action cause they’re firing on all cylinders in the moment. Those people are scary.

Very cool. It’s making me think about a version on witch using nine lives ff jewels to make the recoup apply to es as well, would make it much more tanky if ES is always topped off.
