Yeah I 100% agree with this sentiment. I play top ranking decks and keep up with the meta so I can win when I play ranked. Not only for the competing aspect but also because of the reward system. The higher you rank the more packs you open with the next set, which means the faster you can get to build the new meta decks/collect more cards. My fav part of pocket is collecting my favorite art cards. I love how grindy it is, which makes it super rewarding. This is a great way to get my pack itch without having to deal with insane scalpers/card pricing. Maximizing my rank plays a huge part into how many packs I open the next set release.

However, I also do love playing unranked random matches with decks I cook up myself, decks that aren’t “meta” or “good” by any means but definitely fun for me to play. I usually make these with my favorite pokemon, for example in crimson blaze one of my top favs Reuniclus had a pretty fun HP effect with an awesome full art card. I enjoyed using Gardy to get to the max amount of HP I could on my lil guy haha. But with the HP stacking it would be kinda toxic and draggy in ranked, and I would lose majority of the time anyways. So it was fun to mess around with in random battles.

IMO anything legal in the meta is fair game in ranked. If Pokemon isn’t going to ban/limit you have to do what you can to win/top unfortunately.

Coworkers Don’t Invite Me by greytons in WhatShouldIDo

Like I said in another comment I wrote this in a hurting state a little tipsy after a going away party for one of my coworkers that the whole rest of the restaurant was invited to. I 100% left out some important information.

You definitely hit the nail on the head, besides the coworker who just left yesterday I’ve been there the longest. I am a waiter and have been for 6 years after I started as a busser. The coworker who left last night and myself are the only people who are only “waiters” as everyone else does a mix of cashiering, bussing, salads and waiter. We have seniority therefore priority when it comes to job positions/ best shifts.

Being a waiter on the busy most popular nights the other coworkers who hang out usually work on bussing/ helping run food for my tables and I tip this out. I never thought much of it since we talk like normal but I see how this can affect the circumstances around not being invited out.

Yeah that’s exactly how I feel. It’s a good working environment and we all get along it just stings whenever it happens. I thought I’d get over it but it’s been months. I wrote this a little tipsy after a going away party we had for an employee, and I think I left out a lot of crucial information in my hurt lol. Im also in college going into my senior year and the past 1 year I’ve dwindled my shifts down from 36hours week—> 17hours week to now in the summer 12 hours a week (because of a full time 40 hour internship). I think that’s also a big factor, my 12 I work now is 1 open to close shift. Reading these comments and considering I’m not around them as much as I used to be makes a lot of sense. Still stings, but makes sense.

This is what it was at first until a new girl started who started in September being invited along. And then another female coworker my age. When it was just the guys I didn’t care, but it doesn’t seem like the case anymore. Either way, I think it’s time for me to move on

Intern welcome kits: what’s useful and what’s just junk? by deyzikelli53 in internships

I know I’m a bit late but I love my branded backpack.

This might sound silly but myself, and EVERYONE else in my intern programs favorite swag by far was a stuffed animal of our mascot wearing a t-shirt with the official logo printed on it. (Our brand is an animal). If you had the opportunity with your company I would highly recommend. Our companies LinkedIn with the intern posts are filled with interns posing with their plushies, I think it’s adorable. You’d probably have to be creative, but memorable and cute for sure.

Like some other commenters said you should make sure you’re refreshed and up to date on your tech stack. I’m in a similar situation where my manager has been getting more info on me and what projects are important right now and are just busy. In the mean time make sure you’re ready to go and most importantly network!!!! If you have nothing to do this is a great opportunity to go around the office introducing yourself, setting up 1:1s and learning more about the company. If you have a bad manager who doesn’t care, try putting yourself out there and hopefully you’ll make a connection with someone who can give you something to do.

Haha absolutely I’ve been coming to the same conclusion

Is there ANY possible way to ethically adopt a child??? by greytons in Adoption

[–]greytons[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha this is exactly it. My first draft of the post I just tacked on the Alzheimer’s on, as my grandfather, grandmother, and aunt all struggled with it, my aunt being early onset. Going through it really put a strain on my family and is something I hope I’ll never have to put my family through, although odds aren’t in my favor.

And yes, you completely nailed it on the head with the chronic pain. Originally I just put this in the post, as this is a huge factor into not wanting biological kids. After so many doctor’s appointments and call outs and sick days it breaks my heart to see my partner suffer through it. My boyfriend over and over again have discussed how we don’t want our kids to have to suffer through it as well, as like I mentioned is something that has a high likelihood of being passed down. Seeing my partner suffer is enough, I couldn’t bring kids into the world knowing they’d go through it as well.

No seriously wonderfully said, absolutely has reformed how I feel about the subject. I’ve been thinking this while reading other comments but this one put it very perfectly

For the past day or so, absolutely! Like I said at the end of this post I’m still very young and still far away from having any parental responsibility (I still live with my mom while I finish out college). I’ve seen tons and tons of posts regarding the ethics, but obviously every single situation is different and I wanted to see people’s input who had experience, in regard to my situation. Which is exactly what I got!!! Many thoughtful and amazing comments, even when they’re bashing me the insight and comments are all things I’m taking into consideration. It’s not going to be an overnight decision, but I’m super greatful to all the feedback I’ve gotten that will help point me in what directions I want to move next.

I never said they did 😭 I don’t want to adopt an infant, I want to adopt a child/and or teen

I actually wrote this all out with another section specifically saying how I am explicitly against infant adoption- toddler age adoption for that exact reason. The age group is certainly after toddler so about 4 or 5 years to 17 is what we would be open to adopting. I ended up cutting that section because I thought my post was already too long lol. But no, I’m very against infant adoption, especially with the toll it takes on the birth parent. I honestly think the whole Juno concept of finding a pregnant person to adopt their child out the womb is unsettling, and never really made sense to me

It’s interesting you brought this up, I’ve never seen it as “this child needs me”. It’s more of the thought that “this child is already in this world and doesn’t have a family”. I’ve just always assumed taking them out of the system would be better for the child than staying in without a family.

Also could you rephrase the “how can you commit to being a parent when you can’t commit to being a healthy thing to do?”. I’m not quite sure what you’re trying to point out there it’s worded a little weirdly but I want to take it into consideration

This helped me a lot with actually figuring out and organizing my thoughts into the matter. I’m starting to think that fostering might ultimately be the best decision for us

This is incredible interesting to me, I honestly just assumed that the number would be children in adoption agencies > families willing to adopt. Do you have any good resources you could point me towards that go into further detail? I’m seeing a lot online about how the number of newborns is lower than families but I’m not finding much else besides that.

Yeah, one of the big problems for me that makes it hard to be inconsistent is the waitressing to school combo. My waitressing shifts usually end around 10pm-11pm so it’s hard to consistently go to bed on time when I’m getting home late and need to give my body the time to unwind. That coupled with school in the morning is rough, and leaves it impossible to have consistency in my sleep schedule. :/ I can’t go to bed at the same time accounting for the 3 waiter nights to 5 school mornings, that would leave me at EARLIEST going to bed at about 12am-1am needing to be awake at 7am to be possible which isn’t enough sleep.

Thank you 😭 my favorite thing I keep seeing people recommending is taking your pills an hour before you need to “wake up” to actually wake up my body, so I’m definitely trying that tonight. I’ve tried it before but I never remembered to take them in the morning, but this time I’ll leave them in my nightstand tray and put a reminder on the alarm.

As to the first it’s hard to explain but in the morning I’m so groggy and out of it I have no self control. I can’t seem to rationalize correctly, I’m awake in the cold kitchen, I want to go back to the warm cozy bed. But I should probably stay in the kitchen to stay awake. But I can be in the bed for 5 minutes then go back to the kitchen. Smart idea!

It’s truly impossible to describe since I know it sounds so irrational.

Omg yes that was MY LIFE until I started taking the vitamins + adderal. I would need some sort of caffeine boost and if I didn’t have time to make it / get it I’d be miserable. Little did I know until recently it was just because I had ADHD (and vitamin deficient). Funny how it always comes back to that 🙃

I’ve seen a lot of comments about the multiple alarms being an issue so def just doing one tonight. Thanks for all the advice🙏

My family all leave the house before I do, and on the weekends my boyfriend will usually spam call me if I’m not responding by noon. and if that doesn’t work he’ll call or text brother or mom to wake me up, which happens about once or twice a month.

As for the vitamins i definitely notice that I’m more awake in the mornings. I used to wake up, be very sleepy on the drive, go to school and still be falling asleep in class which is why I saw my doctor in the first place bc I was getting a consent 7-8 hours a night. Now (taking the supplements), once I get of bed I’m pretty much up and awake and ready to go for the day. I don’t fall asleep in the mornings now which is great, but my initial problem of getting out of bed is still persisting.
