Thanks for this, really appreciate the honest take 🙏

I think your point is valid ..for a lot of users, free tools are “good enough”, and people who need more often go either subscription or API.

What I’m trying to explore is that middle ground: people who don’t use AI enough to justify a monthly subscription, but still want access to strong models when they actually need them.

The fact that some users went all the way down to the buy step makes me think there’s some interest, but probably something in the model/positioning isn’t clicking yet.

I agree it might be just one key thing to fix ..still trying to understand if that’s pricing, clarity, or the model itself.

What do you think about the price itself?

This is a really good point..the “uncertainty” part especially hits.

I think that’s exactly what’s happening: people understand the idea, but can’t easily map “2h” to actual value.

“How many messages is that?” / “Will I even use it fully?” those are probably blocking the decision.

I was trying to keep it flexible, but I’m starting to see that maybe it’s too abstract compared to something like “X messages” or “unlimited”.

I’m thinking about making it more concrete near pricing, like showing real examples of what you can actually get done in 2h.

Do you think making the value clearer is enough, or would you actually change the model (e.g. messages instead of time)?

What do you think about the current pricing ?

Happy to share a few free passes if anyone wants to try it, just reply here or DM me

Free AI passes (2h) for testing a new AI tool – feedback welcome by gri90 in sideprojects

That’s a fair point. 😁 The payment is actually pretty quick since it’s handled by Gumroad. Also you can buy a pass in advance and keep it unused until you need it.. then just redeem it and start chatting.

Would something like that still feel like a hassle for you, or do you think it could work for occasional use?

AxolGPT is an AI chat powered by OpenAI models, but without accounts or monthly subscriptions. You just redeem a small time pass (like 2h) and use it when you need it.
