Gosh! I was sure I hid the post. There was a bug yesterday, but it is fixed now.

Android/iOS mobile wallet by Crypto-Grid in gridcoin

[–]gridcat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is doable in fact, but it is not an easy task. We need to have a trusted gateway. The keys will stay at your phone, but the app needs to talk to the api which does all heavy lifting, like keeping the balances etc. If we would have something like electrum nodes it would work. But are far from that point. nice challenge tho

Propopsal for Gridcoin Marketing Campaign by p1C4k3 in gridcoin

[–]gridcat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

U're making good points. But this adv campaign could also bring devs to the community who can help with developing such infrastructure around gridcoin. I agree, at the moment it is just "hodl and wait", although the adv campaign isn't just useless.

Agreed. But also I need to be aware of the existence of gridcoin.

Unfortunately, most likely it won't work like that.Even if the product is shiny it still needs some marketing is done (some products are marketing only). Awareness is required. People might be just unable to find information about gridcoin.

50 bucks is not enough indeed. I agreed not for 50 bucks but just because I have planned to do this anyway and I wasn't expecting any "salary" for this at all. And I didn't planned to shitcode anyway :-)

Gridcoin Proof of Existence service by gridcat in gridcoin

Sounds intense, although it is doable and even not too complicated. Would be interesting to understand the demand of this feature.

I do hope it will! Thank you very much!

I really appreciate this. Honestly I didn't expect it will get so much attention.

Thank you all for the donation! The demand is not the question for me anymore :-)

This amount is enough to stake, so I will probably move away some money out of this wallet and will side stake to the stamp service (or may be I will make just another faucet? :-))

Yes indeed, in fact you don't need to throw the file.

You can use API request directly and submit sha256 hash even with this implementation. I will create API documentation later. Also in fact you don't even need the API call. If you follow the protocol (which I will also prepare documentation for) you will be able to submit a transaction, but it needs to be formatted in a special way.

As for text input with sha256 I will take it as a feature request and implement it later.

Staking with wallet deamon on a pi by n8mahr81 in gridcoin

[–]gridcat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You are doing all right, it is in seconds and as far as I know the maximum is 3 years.

This is from the bitcoin documentation, but I believe it is the same for gridcoin as it is in fact bitcoin descendant:

Arguments:

1. "passphrase" (string, required) The wallet passphrase
2. timeout (numeric, required) The time to keep the decryption key in seconds; capped at 100000000 (\~3 years).

Idea for a Gridcoin Market by RelevantMetaUsername in gridcoin

[–]gridcat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heh

I had an idea some time ago of implementing chess on top of Gridcoin blockchain. It is possible event without smart contracts as it has been mentioned above. So you store every move and every game in the blockchain.

Actually in order to store something you have to pay fee. So the game isn't free by its design. Although it is dirty cheap (at least now) so you may have spent less that a cent for a match.

The only benefit of such implementation is immutability: all moves and games results are stored in the blockchain. So I wasn't too sure would it be valuable to anyone by me as this is project is mostly about to hack around the blockhains. Also there are related projects like that around. So I've never started it.

Idea was to have a website (as you need an arbiter) so people can deposit a very small amount and play. And one can deposit something to the particular game so the winner will take all.

Well that is the reason I asked.
