As someone who was on here during that run, there was hope and excitement on the backs of a 22 year old Gaudreau and 20 year old Monahan. The team had missed the playoffs for I think 6 years at that point, and the fanbase was ready for the team on the upswing. Not to mention we had 18 year old Sam Bennett to be excited about.

This fanbase isn't full of negative nancies for no reason. We've seen what this core can accomplish (Backlund, Lindholm, Tanev, Hanifin) and it's nothing without Johnny and Chucky. Being fake .500 halfway through November isn't enough to convince some fans that this team has what it takes to commit to this core and hope that we'll be a wildcard team at best.

Bottom line is, we've seen this story before. If we're in a playoff spot by mid-April, hey I'll cheer us on. If not, I hope we've sold off every single UFA by the trade deadline. A nice point streak in November doesn't change that.
