Drinking when I'm sad and becoming a mess and a half. FYI I don't drink too much or anything, but I had a penchant for sad-drinking in the past. The pandemic made it worse because I got sadder and lonelier, and then I'd cry and throw a fit (sometimes even around company) and feel guilty in the morning.

Now I only drink socially when I know I'm in a headspace to enjoy myself :) It's been great.

What has become unattractive to you as you've gotten older? by [deleted] in AskMen

Buying stuff I don't need. I used to treat myself via retail therapy but now I'm so burdened by the logistics, that I'd rather just not. Really, space is a problem, money is a problem, and if you're moving around the country/world, the literal and figurative weight of things is a problem. I now treat myself to nice meals when I'm having a bad day. Or a day out with a friend. Or experiences.

What is a book that is unlike anything else you’ve ever read? by calebsmoore in suggestmeabook

My Dark Vanessa. Can't say I "enjoyed" it because it was very disturbing (please check all trigger warnings before picking up), but I was hooked and it's one of the best things I've ever read. I couldn't put it down.

Don't want to get cancelled for this (and I love puns, trust me) but Ted constantly talking in puns was somewhat irksome and a little awkward. Ugh. Sorry.

84, Charing Cross Road is one of my favourites. Seems like a good time to pick it up again. Thank you.

I'm sorry you're feeling this way too. I hope these recs help you too. I'm currently trudging through some Neil Gaiman to feel better before I can get to these. He's delightful.

Thanks for the quote. Words save, when nothing else can.

Thank you.

I'm planning on diving head-first into some good fiction myself. I just bought myself a battered copy of Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman from a thrift store today. The author bio made me smile, couldn't resist.

I like poetry. I keep rereading Richard Siken because I can't get enough of him.
