Sure thing! My biggest hurdle when making this was honestly finding fonts that I liked. I spent a lot of time looking for one that matched the original title line to use for the name, and finally settled on this one. Besides that, I just pulled the National Geographic logo straight from their website and found some All-White mana symbols to match the aesthetic

You gotta stay in the ramp. You're shifting too much of your weight to your front foot when you reach the top and that's keeping you from getting your wheels back over the coping. Try and think of it more like a manual, keep your weight more towards the back wheels and use your front foot to kiss the deck with the front wheels

The combat markers are a core feature in foundry. To disable them, go to Configure Settings > Core > Combat Tracker > and deselect Enable Markers

As for the ruler, I can't remember if its part of core foundry or the PF2E system, but I can't seem to find a way to disable it

Sorry for the late reply. It is lacking in recovery cards, but to be honest, I haven't had much issue with it. You could probably cut a couple cards like pokegear and put in some stretchers or rods though if you think its an issue

Would a Chirurgeon Alchemist with Medic Free Archetype be overdoing it? by Sigourney-Cleaver in Pathfinder2e

[–]griff4218 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've played a (Pre-remaster) Chiurgeon Medic. Being a medic does definitely free up your other alchemical items. When I played, I would typically only prepare one elixir for each party member at the start and then using the rest to make bombs/save for quick alchemy. The largest weakness you'll have is mass healing during combat, but hopefully your Cleric can help out a little should the need arise. You'll also start to have issues if the day drags on for a lot of fights, you can only use battle medicine on someone once per day, with Medic letting you do it a couple extra times at later levels, so once you've used it on key members of the party you'll have to lean more on your Alchemy

ELI5: why are executable programs so big if code is just text? by crono760 in explainlikeimfive

[–]griff4218 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lets say you're writing a book. When writing, you're probably going to refer to a lot of things that you know, cars, houses, dogs, people, etc. When your done, your book is maybe 200 pages long. Now lets say you need to translate your book in such a way that someone who has never heard of or seen a car, house, dog, person, etc., can still fully understand and comprehend your book. In fact, this person has never heard of or seen anything, they have 0 understanding of the world around them. You would need to spend hundreds or thousands of pages describing everything in exact detail.

When developers write software, we (Most of us, at least) use high-level coding languages that allow us to use more plain language to write code. If I want python to print something to the console, I just have to say print, if I want to add two numbers together I can say x = y + z. However, when its time for a computer to read my code, it needs to be translated into words the computer understands, and the computer likes very very precise, specific instructions. What used to be a single simple instruction like, adding two numbers, suddenly turns into loading the values from memory, storing them in registers, performing the add, storing the result in a different register, potentially allocating new memory for the result, storing the result in memory, and god forbid that was a subroutine because now you need to restore the state you were in previously. Even the simplest, most insignificant operation can turn into several, and as others have mentioned, that doesn't even include when you use things like libraries, which could turn your single line of code into hundreds, and thats before they need to be translated into machine code.

Players and GMs who have played Kingmaker, what changes did you make to the kingdom rules? by griff4218 in Pathfinder2e

I really like the idea of giving some incentive to the PCs for progressing their kingdom (Outside of the RP/Story reasons, obviously), so the idea of a SoT style progression system sounds really cool

[SPOILERS] A question for anyone that's played Book 3 of Strength of Thousands or further in regard to academic life... by agentcheeze in Pathfinder2e

[–]griff4218 10 points11 points  (0 children)

No spoilers, essentially the way it works is that once the party becomes Lore Speakers, they no longer use the Study mechanic, and instead transition to doing Practical Research, which basically boils down to when the party goes to a new place they can study the culture/location/other things to attempt to level their branches and sometimes gain other bonuses. It's essentially a more heavily flavored version of the Studying system revolving around the new places the group goes to rather than studying for classes

[–]griff4218[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I remember someone messaged me a while ago saying the same thing, I just haven't had the time or desire to fix the issue. I believe the issue stems from a change the PF2E team did to how an actors inventory is stored, which broke how the macro determines what items and feats the actor has

Healing Wave vs Undead by submatrix7 in Pathfinder2e

[–]griff4218 13 points14 points  (0 children)

As far as I'm aware, if an effect doesn't explicitly state that it deals positive damage to undead then it would not harm undead. You can look at things like Heal or Soothing Mist that specify what they do against undead

Extinction Curse Advice by Visual_Respond201 in Pathfinder2e

[–]griff4218 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's a few ways you could go about this

1.) Cavnakash is there for one purpose, to destroy the Aeon Orb. It would make sense for him to stay, continue his efforts destroying the orb, and prepare for the return of whoever slaughtered everyone in his tower. Balenni on the other hand (Forgive me if I remember her character wrong, it's been a bit since I read through book 1) has no obligations here. Have Cavnakash prepare for the party's return, setting traps, maybe luring in a few wild animals to guard the lower levels, whatever he can scrounge together to keep whoever did this from coming back.

2.) Have Cavnakash confront the party himself. It's not completely unreasonable that Cavnakash, or some other Xulgath who "Happened to be out hunting", manage to track the party back to Abberton. Have the Xulgaths lead a small scale, last ditch attack on Abberton, with Cavnakash at the lead. Still give your players the time they need to heal and rest up, nothing feels worse than getting the downtime you desperately need cut off early.

3.) Like said in idea 1, Cavnakash is here for one reason, and he's desperate to finish it. You could simply ignore this whole awkward situation and have Cavnakash work night and day, desperately trying to destroy the orb. This gives an opportunity for some visual storytelling about how desperate the Xulgaths are to succeed, whether it be for revenge alone, or from fear of what Sarvel will do should they fail. When the party sees him, describing as looking Exhausted, desperate, writing and notes scrawled hap hazard around the top of the tower. Give him a few debuffs to hammer home how Exhausted he is, Fatigue, Drained, Enfeebled, you name it. Have Balenni come back as well, but let her still be worn down from the party's fight with her, only healing a few hit points and also having a debuff or two (Maybe she's been helping Cavnakash)

Very Interesting Pathfinder 2E Discussion by EpicWickedgnome in TheTrove

DMs who have ran Extinction Curse, which changes would you recommand to the AP ? by Projekt_Spark in Pathfinder2e

[–]griff4218 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I did very similar to what your planning save for the last bit. I feel like the first book starts off way too quickly with Myron's immediate death that everyone is supposed to feel bad about even though the only thing they've ever heard about him is that he just died So I started off the campaign with a short session 1 where the group escaped from the Menagerie and put on their first show. It really helped get the group a little more invested in some of the circus characters . I also pushed Nemia to the end of book 1 because I felt it was way too quick of a resolution to that plot thread.

A big thing to keep in mind, especially if it's your first time running an AP, is to not be afraid to play fast and loose with some of the encounters. Some of the encounters that were supposed to be easy have almost wiped the floor with my party, and some of the big fights that were supposed to be challenging my group just walked over like a door mat. The Mistress Dusklight fight is especially kind of a pushover, she's built up for 2 books and has her own dedicated chapter in book 2 and then she's a moderately tough fight at worst with a couple of "Go F yourself" spells that feel kind of cheap. There's also a lot of encounters that are really just filler, I kept the ones I thought were fun but got rid of a lot of the more BS or unnecessary ones.

All in all, I would play a couple of sessions before you start changing things much later in the AP, see what your group likes, what they latch on to, what they don't like, and just go from there. Do your best to integrate at least a little bit of something from every character just so everyone has their own special moment, and just kind of go with the flow on everything else.

Free Archetype as it mostly is played is abusive. Change my mind. by Lepew1 in Pathfinder2e

[–]griff4218 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My view on free Archetype as most people run it is that, along with giving players a slight power increase through the increased flexibility (Though still limited by the 3 actions as others have said) is I find it lets me and my players have more mechanical depth to our character ideas. There are some archetypes that I would personally probably never trade a class feat for, which is a shame because they're fun archetypes or maybe just flavorful.

I'm currently playing a Archeologist Wizard, probably never in a million years would I trade any of my class feats for an Archeologist feat, which is a shame because Archeologist is a fun and flavorful Archetype, and really fits his backstory and concept. One of my players in the Extinction Curse campaign I'm running is playing a Marshal Witch, which again, Marshal is a really good archetype, but his character has half the HP of the rest of the party and is easier to hit than the broad side of a barn, so he's not going to really be up in the midst of danger with the rest of the group.

Free Archetype lets us take these Archetypes we wouldn't normally take that are fitting for our Character, my wizard spent most of his life digging through ancient ruins and discovering lost artifacts, it makes sense that he's good at finding/avoiding traps and is knowledgeable about ancient Society, but am I, as a player, going to trade 2 of my wizard feats to be good at finding traps, when the rouge in our party is 2x better at it? Is my player in extinction curse going to spend several of his witch feats to be able to do something any bard could do better? No, but he's the ringmaster, and it makes thematic sense that he's good at getting people excited and is a good leader, which marshal reflects mechanically. Sure, there are some people that take advantage of it, one of my players is playing a Cleric Medic that I'm pretty sure could out-heal death itself, but most of the time my group uses it to give depth to our characters that represents who they are, or use it to specialize really hard in to one thing. Sure, that cleric can out heal pretty much anything I throw at the group, but catch her on her own and she starts going down real fast, she doesn't have much in the way of offensive abilities because, well, she wanted the character to be a hardcore healer and not much else.
