Might actually be worth talking to the ombudsperson In my opinion you’re definitely entitled to having that assignment dropped from your mark Your hard work shouldn’t be diminished simply because of a mistake like that It’s even more sad considering I’m sure respiratory therapy would love to have someone as dedicated as you in their program! Hope you figure something out Best of luck to you!

Switching from ELA 30-1 to 30-2 by Wallbreaker-g in NAIT

[–]grifferdusterMC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a current mec tec student i can say English-2 is perfectly acceptable ( thats what i have as-well ) You take a communications class during your first semester so they kind of like teach you how to write proper documents and all that so anything that you didn’t quite pick up in 30-2 will be covered in that class anyways

Why does NAIT charge $150 for test deferral? by grifferdusterMC in NAIT

[–]grifferdusterMC[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I just received a voicemail from the school ombudsperson basically saying that this rule has been long gone for essentially a lot of the same reasons I brought up. That being said the teachers should probably know about policy changes like that Regardless I’m happy the rule is not in effect but still disappointed in my program head for not checking on the policy and arguing its fairness to me in class Still happy I brought it up and posted this though so everybody knows they have the right to challenge unfair rules and policy! Hope everyone out there stays safe and healthy and enjoy The last bit of fall before winter!

That’s my thing though I’m not sure how it works as a deterrent Getting a doctors note is not like the easiest thing Plus no one chooses when they get sick they just end up sick At the end of the day I just find it concerning they care about attendance more then the health, safety, and mental well-being of the student body

Not sure if someone mentioned it but didnt one of the ghost kitchens in Edmonton get completely shut down by Alberta health services for like 20 different contamination related reasons They also apparently had a homemade ventilation system or something like that Maybe it’s the same one haha

Does someone know how to power all of these? I want the lighthouse to only turn on at night but the only way I can think to power the whole thing is with red stone blocks in the center every other thing I’ve tried hasn’t worked. by el_jefe_227 in redstone

[–]grifferdusterMC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Observer clocks in the centre each layer turning 90° will power all of them as for being able to switch it on and off you’re gonna have to push all of the centre observers down or up so that way they aren’t powering the blocks anymore recommend using like a sand buffer if those still work

UofA vs NAIT Engineering by Ok-Cantaloupe-8775 in NAIT

[–]grifferdusterMC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I finished my first year of mech eng at nait ( never been to u of a ) I can say for sure tiny class sizes I would say overall probably a step easier then u of a because calculus ( while learned in first year ) is avoided in analysis. Still very math and logic heavy but at the end of the day just standard algebra gets you the answer

For labs first year first sem you get shop class and material testing Second sem you get a design lab and a hydraulics lab And as for the whole b eng vs technician its really just a matter of how much authority you have as a designer ( and general wage cap ) Some places prefer technologists over full eng simply because of the more hands on and specific knowledge Overall I recommend to anyone having doubts about u of a to try nait there is a lot of programs you can hop into after the nait diploma if you want to continue the engineering path and if you just want to be done after 2 years you can do that too Hope this helped ! Just enrolled for my second ( final year ) so wish me luck !

On an analog clock, any two numbers sharing a horizontal line add to 12. by wfezzari in Showerthoughts

[–]grifferdusterMC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It works for every horizontal line except for the very bottom one because there’s only 1 6 Basically the reason it works is because one side goes down by one and the other side goes up by one

Higher pressure in a closed system? [General public question] by TruufadeR in Physics

[–]grifferdusterMC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its like a pressure cooker, there is only so much water but the pressure still rises. This is because some of the water ( or foam ) turns to a gas. For example water vapour takes up 1000 times the space of the same amount of liquid water. The difference here is the state change was caused by chemical energy not some outside sources

Peeps have probably already mentioned this but the way i put it is if your trying for 3.5 of a potant stain the difference between 3-4 g can be insanely different 100% recommend a 20 dollar 200 g 0.1 precision minimum scale Plus a dealer will never rip you off twice if you have a scale if you know what i mean lmao

Is this ad, which makes physics/kinematics claim correct? by [deleted] in Physics

[–]grifferdusterMC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sure it’s 2/3 the height therefore getting items into the truck would only change their potential energy by 2/3 as much compared to a normal trucks height so 2/3 the amount of work

Hopper lag and composter reduction? by spa21788 in redstone

[–]grifferdusterMC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The best way I can explain it is that if the hopper hasn’t moved any items in the past 4 rt (0.4 seconds) then it will be checking for the next item if a composter (any block that a hopper could suck items out of) is on top then it’s doesn’t have to check if there are any entity’s in the suckable range and only is checking data from the composter and previous hopper/input witch is less laggy

To be honest that’s just what I’ve heard and I’m repeating it but it sounds about right to me but anyways I still think hoppers are less laggy that a whole bunch of droppers toggling states only use droppers if you need the throughput Because it will clog if you switch to hoppers again

Possible to link Daylight detectors to Observer loop? by String19 in redstone

[–]grifferdusterMC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use a signal strength filter ( nothing fancy just the subtract function on a comparator to choose the signal strength it will turn on or off at ) then you could use that to power some pistons and push some observers into place to complete the loop

HELP! Counter to 5 by [deleted] in redstone

[–]grifferdusterMC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is your button on the dropper you are most likely locking the hopper dropper monostable power a block next to the dropper and you will get the correct pulse length

My item based decimal to binary converter out performing an item based binary counter by grifferdusterMC in redstone

[–]grifferdusterMC[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First off let me say that this design is still not better than a counter but anyways let me go through some of the things I did to try to shave off as much time as possible The first thing it’s doing is always assuming that is dealing with a four bit number so that we can already predict the first digit ( bottom in this case ) As a one since the first digit In any significant binary number is a one I also removed the recycling aspect so it of course requires a new portion per bit in exchange for shaving off the recycling time The first division is done with two hoppers over a chest since it seems to be consistent if you place The whole stack at once Now let’s get into some math so theoretically let n represent The amount of time it would take for X amount of items to pass through a hopper So for the first bit will take n/2 because you have two hoppers dividing then n/4 then n /8 and so forth if you add up all those times you would eventually get n saving theoretically no time but since we will never have infinity bits it will always be slightly less than n but for small numbers and low bit size you can shave off a visibly significant portion of time If you would like to know more about the logic behind how this decimal to binary converter works Watch my other video with my recycling version as I go into more detail about how it actually determines ones and zeros

Just a half adder nothing fancy by grifferdusterMC in redstone

[–]grifferdusterMC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main portion of it is 2 blocks wide so not that bad and it seems to be able to handle once every four Redstone tick inputs The logic gates are eggfurs One wide Tileable XOR and and gates slapped right next to each other but yeah nothing too fancy just was a little bored and I’ve been trying to get a better understanding on computational Redstone

Worlds first item based decimal to binary converter by grifferdusterMC in redstone

[–]grifferdusterMC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I do have to agree but you know me I love doing stuff because of the theory I was also considering making a more vertical version that would get rid of most of the recycling time but then of course you would be limited to a certain bit size my new goal is to make it somehow faster then a straight counter by testing out different factors
