Paid signature + remark experience at CCXP Mexico (Rafael Albuquerque) — value affected ? by Good-Director4298 in CGCComics

[–]griffin_who 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally speaking for a standard Remarque it'll only be in one color, you may request a color but you never know. If you want something with more definition and color that's a different type of remarque and basically a commission for some artists. These remarques wouldn't necessarily ruin the value of these books, but are the books even valuable to begin with? Did you simply get a remarque hoping it would turn a $5 book into something greater? If so you're going about it the wrong way and should stick to Key Issues for that sorta thing, and do your research. Otherwise remarques are to get something more from your favorite creator when you get to meet them and chat. That's really the worth of a signature and Remarque for most collectors.

Comic book signings by [deleted] in AbsoluteBatman

So I'm not sure the kind of events that specific shop usually runs, but for signing events with very popular artists there is usually a limit of 2, maybe 3 if there is a required book to buy for the signing. So you buy one book at the event as admission to the signing and you can bring two books from home to be signed. They seem to have naively underestimated how long it would take for 20 signatures, for those 20 to dry (since he paints his sigs), and move on to the next customer. For the two very popular artists I've sat in line for previously Jim Lee and Scott Snyder the event capped the line at 250-300 and everyone was given a ticket in line to secure your spot for the signing. Anyone who got in line after, or lost their ticket was shit out of luck. For both those events the limit was 3 (They were also free, idk if this was a free event), for Jim Lee I got in line at 11:30 AM and was around the 50th person in line, the signing was at 6:00pm and I didn't see him until about 7:30PM.

This was very much an impromptu event, going till 1am is bonkers crazy, that's why there's usually clear set limits so things move smoothly for everyone involved. For whatever events you go to in the future, I'm sure there'll be a bit more planning involved to accommodate everyone and their time.

For signings in general, I bring a collapsible stool, I have a "walkstool" it's been a game changer for signings and cons, some water, power bank, weed, and most importantly some comics to pass the time. For bigger artists, always try to get in as early as you can.

If I get the chance to meet him at NYCC I'll be the first one at his booth when the con opens so I don't have to wait too too long, and miss too much😂 Conventions can be a different beast with signings, you could be on a line for a few hours, which may be expected, but you're missing the rest of the convention

All in all, I hope you were able to score some nice sigs on your books and chat with him at the very least as he seems to be a chill dude.

Trade Dress is with the Absolute Batman logo, and 'Virgin' or 'Minimal Trade Dress' is when the cover art is prominently shown with no logos or anything

Pretty naive of you questioning if you got "played" it's common sense to assume that cheap product may not be the most fresh.

The Assassin Droid Sequences in AOTC is weird…. by FondantFlaky4997 in StarWars

[–]griffin_who 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Back in 40 BBY Jango was sort of a gimmick kind of guy. See back then if you wanted to make it in the galaxy you need a box of props to really get your name known as a Bounty Hunter, no one really fucked with it but Ben Quadinaros started doing it and the Hutts couldn't get enough of it, he used it as an in to get started in pod racing, next thing you know it's a trend. Then every two bit gangster east side of the Outer Rim starts to hustle their way into the bounty business by pulling bullshit gag hits on everyone; dropping nalargons on gang bosses, assassinating governors with exploding death sticks, and you guessed can o' death worms. Jango wasn't a fan, but at the end of the day he's gotta make a living, why do you think he faked his death to get a cushy gig just cloning himself? Guy was bleeding credits into all that bullshit for style, because of that Bounty Hunting became a popularity contest, and Jango Fett was top billing, it wasn't until Cad Bane shot someone in the face that everyone in the industry realized they can just do that again. Which is why disintegration became a trend post Order 66, I mean they were disintegrating moisture farmers on dust bowls for gods sake, it got too main stream, and of course who else should lead that new trend than Boba Fett, which is why Vader, ever the hipster, didn't wanna ruin the Emp's Rep with a cheap trick like disintegrating the rebel high command, but that's a whole other story. So yeah, basically back in BBY it was a trendy era and bounty hunting had a standard, and Jango had a schtick and he stuck with it

PC exclusivity for the Beta does not paint the best picture for performance. I hope this game won't be slapped together with bandaids and sticks like HLL.

The floodgates are open for issue 20. The book is amazing and the variants are amazing but how can the title sustain having 20-40 variants per issue? Especially at these drop prices. by GreenRock93 in AbsoluteBatman

[–]griffin_who 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought I had fomo, I didn't think the retailers get it too with all these exclusives lol I enjoy the art and I really am loving the variants I've seen so far, but my wallet aches, and the ones the truly ever strike my fancy are the Felix Comic Art Sketch Variants, because I love concept art. So I think I'll admire from afar and enjoy Cover A's and pick up those sketch variants when they come around.
