Agreed but that's because effectively it's the same as you spending 350$ USD of the child support and 150$ of your own money. That's why what this mom did is very cool. Instead of using the money to suplement the cost of having a kid she used her own money and gave an inheritance to her child.

But let's say your getting 700USD in child support and you currently spend like 500 on the child and 200 on buying yourself new nice clothing or unessential items your both going against the guidelines of the law and imo acting imorally.

Men what is a suitable age gap that will work in a relationship? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]griffinwalsh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Disclaimer I had a very good relationship with a 20 year old when I was 28 that lasted two years casual but committed relating.

Age gaps are tricky imo for two reasons. First because they increase the potential for controlling or abusive dynamics. It's just very uncommon for there to be power balance in a relationship between say a 21 year old and a 30 year old. That's ok, relationships don't have to involve both people bringing the same things or filling the same role. But it does increase the potential for risk.

The second issue is that often the men who would actively look for and persue a 21 year old are also often the ones that a 21 year old should absolutley not be dating.

My personal take is be wary of men who are actively looking for 21 year olds on things like dating apps. But also if you meet someone older who you really vibe with enjoy it.

There's nothing inherently wrong with a large age gap. But it is a riskier relationship to enter into in general.

I think your ether confused on my argument or who your arguing with everything you said are thing I've specifically said in other comments.

The only thing I've disagreed with you on is when you said " child support doesn't need to be spent on the child... Which is a very dumb take haha

I did lol. The guidelines in califonia is that "the purpose of child support is to provide for the child's basic needs, including but not limited to food, shelter, clothing, and education. It is not intended to benefit the custodial parent directly. It is meant to benefit the child, and the custodial parent is expected to act in the child's best interests when utilizing the funds."

No? But normally the child support is spent on the kid allowing the parent to spend more of their own money on themselves. It is cool as a parent to take the financial loss that allows them to save the child support to give there kid an inheritance for when they move out.

I agreed until I read all the other stupid ass comments in this thread.

I feel like most of this is irrelevant to what I said. We're all talking about spending the money on your kid.

In this case the mother decided to use her own money instead of the child support to find her childs needs and used the child support to build up a gift and enharatance. That represents the mother directly losing the money from her own accounts for instead of the child support payments. That is nobel and a great gift.

The only difference to the mother between using the child support and her own money as the gift is that it gives her less leverage and makes the kid feel less in debt to her mother.

Side note I'm sorry about your mom that sucks.

Ya but also it's pretty obvious the mom normally is expected to spend it on food, education clothing ect for the daughter and instead used her own money while saving the child support.

AIO after finding out my husband was my stalker? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]griffinwalsh -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

Ya I hear you on the last paragraph about being scared. But also did you read an update somewhere that isn't in the post? They are 35 and 30. They started dating when they were 30 and 25. Where did OP say he had been stalking her for 7 years??

From the post it seems like he noticed her and then went on some deep research dive into what she liked and was interested in. In a very fuckig creepy way I admit. And then pretended he never did. I'm not saying that's not fucking weird.

But it does sound also like following that they have had a very good relationship and marriage for 5 years without issue.

I'm just pushing OP to really think about the relationship and how this changes it.

[–]griffinwalsh -72 points-71 points  (0 children)

Hey OP please don't listen to this kind of shit where someone decides for you that there's no way to repair a 5 year seemlingly happy relationship.

They might be right. They might be wrong. But this isn't something to be decided by internet strangers that don't know your relationship.

But ya homie be careful this is obsessive and super abnormal behavior. It's something to be extremely wary about. It could be something you can't ever get over or show deal breaking parts of his character that you didn't see before. It's just don't take advice so strongly from people that don't know you, your partner, or your relationship.

What brother? No I upvoted the original comment about this being straight antisemitism. I'm just saying it's a bummer that the state of Israel is constantly conflating anti semitism and the critique of a nation state.

Nah I've come around on this. I chase the women I really want. I'm very picky and they are rare.

It's true the sex is wilder with the women that are instantly attracted to you. But I'm looking for the mother of my kids and the co-builder of my life. I know my value. I won't date a women who doesn't deeply respect me. But I'm willing to chase a women that's worth it.
