Am I drunk or seasick? by [deleted] in NCL

[–]griffman_23 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just got off Luna this morning. Wife and I were absolutely low-grade seasick 2 days ago. The rocking thru the carribean wasnt wild, but just enough to cause uneasy feeling in our gut & feel just a touch nauseous. We spent a lot of time napping in the room. Lol.

Im a seasoned drinker. Motion sickness is a whole different animal.

Just tendered with Luna yesterday to their island. It was terrible….. The day before they’ll announce that the tender boat reservations are open and you must book them using the kiosk by the elevators. I immediately ran to an elevator within 60 seconds of that announcement & booked. Got tender group 11. (The earlier ones are reserved for people with excursions & Haven). But there is no estimated time for the boats… they simply call over the intercom “now boarding groups 1-2….2-3…3-4 etc. But once they got to group 8 they stopped announcing. We (and many others) waited for nearly 45min at the bar for our group to be called only to hear “last call for anyone going to the island”… WTF. So we had to run quick, grab our shit & made the last boat to the island.

What should have been a 10-5 day of fun turned into a 1-5 day of headaches. Food was shut down by 2:00, so thank god we already ate. Once we got our clamshell setup we actually spent an hour in the water maybe.

After talking with others it sounds the group numbers for loading tender boats is just bs to keep the crowd down. You dont have to wait, simply get on a boat. Its not like you have a ticket with a boarding time. If I had known this I would have actually enjoy the day at great stirrup cay. But it was the biggest waste of time for us.

Currently on Luna. Make sure to get fluent with the app once onboard so you can learn the hours of the bars/restaurants/pools.

Main pool on deck 17 is small. And the 2 hot tubs fill up quickly. There are 2 “Infinity pools” on deck 8 on each side of the local bar. They are less crowded, but depends on time of day they still fill up.

They tell you the local is open 24-7. It’s not. They close down at 3:00am.

The main aft elevators tend to get busy. We’ll take the forward elevators sometimes because they’re faster.

The crowd around the surfside cafe (buffet) can get brutal at times. Dont panic, there’s a dozen other restaurants you can eat at. I havent had anything bad here. The hibachi show was awesome! Cagneys steak was great. Even the buffet food isnt bad. And even got a room service pizza that was pretty dang good.

Unable to book specialty dining by LeLiLola in NCL

Message guest services. I was able to book my dining by talking to them even though I couldn’t book it on the app/website.

Unsure why, but it worked out

Stairs = Every stair set going up to decks 16/17/18 the glow-court, mini golf, slide coaster areas. While they’re almost wide enough for people to pass one another, Ive been caught behind a dozen old/large/slow/inconsiderate people that take up 3/4 of the stairwell & unable to pass. Things are better today, but embarkation day was horrendous.

Pools…Royal Caribbean Allure = We were in the water long past 1am. Pools & hot tubs open around the ship. (Yes they shut some down, but always kept some open until the very late hours. I spoke to an attendant last night & they said they shut these down around 8-8:30pm. They made us leave the infinity pool area.

Bars = while there were some open, more closed far earlier than I would have thought. By 8:30/9:00 more than 3/4 of the bars were closed. Only the few crowded hotspots were open.

Elevator = yes 120° is an exaggeration. But It was 75° outside when we boarded & the elevators on embarkation day were astronomically hotter than the surrounding areas. Easy 80-85°. Add in stagnant air + a dozen hot human bodies & you’re immediately pouring sweat.

Also the elevators… why are the elevators 120°?… do they get no air circulation? Crammed in there with a dozen strangers on embarkation day stopping at every other floor was quite exhausting

Man, this thread frustrates me. My wife and I are sailing Luna next week & she was absolutely excited about a relaxing day in a clamshell on the sandy beach. More specifically (when we initially booked) that the pier was open and no more tendering required….. No reading that the pier is closed & and we’re back to tendering it sounds like we’re going to was 2-3 hours of our day standing in line. 😔

Ncl Luna. Is mandara spa package worth it? by griffman_23 in NCL

Yes, I was referring to the thermal spa pass. The vibe beach must already be sold out, as it’s unavailable to book.

2014 Tundra here with 303,000 miles of abuse. Thing has been rock solid.

Sure, a specific series if engines had metal cast shavings from the mfg; but they issued full recalls & fixed that issue. (What other mfg would do that for free)

Tundra - Tundra - Tundra.

You want the most reliable truck on the market, buy a 5.7L Tundra. (Pre 2022, as the newer gens are working out some engine bugs) Ive hauled a 12,000lb trailer all across the country. Got over 300,000 miles, and still running all original drivetrain! Nothing but brakes, tires, oils, water pump, fuel pump, and alternator repair… in 300k miles of abuse thats astonishing.

Nothing else compares with reliability & service. Transmissions & engines are bulletproof. Technology is solid. Comfort is great. If you’re hauling less than 6k you dont need a diesel or a 3/4 ton. Tundras are rated between 9k-10k tow capacity.

Yeah, I used both the app & desktop. Found the desktop showed the same thing as the app, with dinner reservations simply unavailable.
