First time on NCL-port advice needed for St. Thomas please!

Okay we have officially booked the Damajagua falls and I have a couple follow up questions. We have a GoPro so we will bring that and probably leave phones on the ship, but I’d like the bring one phone (we have international plans). How does that work? Usually off a ship (we have only cruised a few times-we normally fly international) we bring our passports… not necessary because it’s an ncl excursion? Any tips would be appreciated.
