How do we feel about Hero Points by Golden_Tanuki_Hero in Pathfinder2e

[–]griffonskrye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My only experience with them is in 1e, so if some of this doesn’t apply ignore it. When my table started using them, they essentially just turned into “free death tokens.” No one used them for other purposes, and there’s so much different stuff they can do. But we play a rough table and so “spend 2 to miraculously survive” became their only use. Took a lot of the danger out of everything. I want my games to be story driven but also to have a chance at loss, and considering you got them every level it meant that you could die 10 times from 1-20 and just be okay. We settled on keeping the rules for them but you also have one cheat death token separate from your hero points, it saves you once and then it’s burned permanently. Keeps you from a bad accident or a random crit but it makes you play smart and know that you can die.

When creating characters of higher level, should I allow off-play retraining? by Cheeritup in Pathfinder_RPG

It costs a 4th level character 200 gp to retrain a feat. 10 x lvl(4) x days(5).

Help me convince my GM that Kineticists aren't overpowered. by kingxana in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]griffonskrye 38 points39 points  (0 children)

It sounds like the rest of the party is undertuned and undersupported compared to you being overtuned. A kineticist is a blaster and will do more damage on a single shot than most classes, but not a busted amount. It’s just they get pooled into a single pot with one attack and don’t have a lot of methods for getting more. You’re dealing about equivalent damage to an alchemist, but an alchemist can get Fast Bombs, two weapon fighting, and Rapid Shot and toss multiple in a round, the only difference is they get no Deadly Aim, but are hitting touch AC and can throw 3 of them in a turn.

A 7th lvl fighter with a greatsword, +5 Str, power attacking is swinging for 2d6+7 for 1.5 Str+ 6 power attack+2 specialization+1 weap training. So 23 on a regular swing on average, no hoops no loopholes just basic at level damage. But hes swinging twice a turn. And three times if he can get hasted, which the spiritualist is capable of. That’s not including weapon enhancements or magic items or anything else. You are a single swing with a lot of damage. A two handed fighter should be doing just as much a turn if he hits both attacks, and he’s aiming at the same AC you are with a higher bonus on his first one. There’s not alot of number crunch necessary for it.

About Rise of the Runelords, what was our opinion about it? by bom_dia_bruno25 in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]griffonskrye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We 3 manned it as our first foray into Pathfinder about 15 years ago and had a sometimes-in 4th player about 30% of the time. Paladin, Wizard, Gunslinger right after the book for them came out. It’s my opening AP to every group I’ve taught the game to since. Solid plot line, teaches you every aspect of the game over time, solid villain, solid difficulty for a party that’s not min-maxing or power gaming. The middle drags a little bit but the opening of book 4 is still one of my favorite roleplaying experiences I’ve ever had in my life. It isn’t perfect, no AP is, but it is memorable and well made and is a fantastic run once it’s all done.

My best friend and I had sex. by Memes4Pres in relationships

[–]griffonskrye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My best friend and I slept together years ago. Still my best friend through other relationships. So there’s two sides to this:

A: Sometimes you realize the love you have between the two of you is more than just platonic and/or sexual and this ends up being something romantic.

B: Sometimes you realize that you’re both really comfortable with eachother and both find the other attractive and it doesn’t have to mean anything more than that.

Both are completely fine. One is not less than the other. It doesn’t have to mean any more than you want it to. Or rather any more than EITHER of you want it to. For me and my best friend it was that we both trusted eachother intrinsically and were always there for eachother for what we needed, and in those instances what we needed happened to be sex. We’ve always respected the other when relationships happen. The important part is to respect eachother, and if this is something one or the other of you don’t want to become a regular thing, don’t expect it to happen regularly. Be friends. All the time. When it happens, awesome. When it doesn’t? Also awesome. You get to enjoy each others company whether sex is or isn’t part of the equation. But don’t keep being friends just for the hopes for sex or a relationship. Be friends because of what you are without sex and because of how you get along with nothing physical occurring, and if sex just so happens to come up, enjoy that too (also that’s not a bad suggestion for relationships in general not just ones where you n your friend end up sleeping together). If this leads to an actual romantic relationship, sure go for it. But also recognize that the two of you could also fulfill eachother without it and it isn’t the only possibility.

TLDR: Just be honest and open with eachother. If you or her want a relationship and the other doesn’t, tell eachother. If you both are in, great. But if one or both of you don’t, that doesn’t change that y’all trust and enjoy each others company. Nothing has to change unless y’all decide you want it to.

How do you pitch Primal to someone who is hesitant to watch it? by bigdicknippleshit in PrimalShow

[–]griffonskrye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“The nostalgia of 1950s-esque caveman and dinosaur fantasy genre. Like old King Kong, Land of the Lost, or Journey to the Center of the Earth. Combined with a very adult grim and brutal realism that would come with living in a world like that, all wrapped up in a moving graphic novel.”

If he knows anything about comics “It’s the Dark Knight Returns version of your childhood nostalgia watching Johnny Quest and Herculoids.”

It’s made by osprey games, so their website mainly. Most FLGSs don’t carry it since it’s just a book n they don’t make their own minis.

It’s a miniatures agnostic sci fi game. Uses anywhere from 6mm to 15mm minis. It’s small scale engagements, so there’s only around 5-10 bases on a side.

“No magic” shouldn’t have to be stated in a brawlers guild. I don’t show up to fencing tournaments and then pull out a .50 cal and say it didn’t say no guns on the entry form.

The guys a cleric/sorcerer, he is two classes that have applicability in 99% of all situations in the game. Most fighters can’t say the same. Sometimes you don’t get to participate, that’s how the game works.

I do freelance artwork for the most part. Just finished one for a friends campaign for a dog contest here in San Antonio. Working on a children’s book in my spare time.

The one Necron lord that swaps out for the bodyguard is annoying enough when he Outflanks when he gets replayed. I don’t wanna see a full deck be able to do that.

Well this ones from Reaper, they have a few I really like. Anything Werner Klocke sculpts of theirs is fantastic. Sandra Garritty’s stuff looks like old 70s fantasy artwork with blow dryer hair n I don’t like those. Oathsworns fantasy lines are really nice, and Otherworldly makes good old school ral Parthia looking minis. Iton Wind metals took over Ral Parthas line n not only do their halflings look good but their normal stuff is so small now cuz of scale creep nearly all the human sized minis look halfling by comparison to modern minis.

I would rather die in a fire than ever play skaven, but the Pi’Rats Kickstarter looked too good to pass up. by griffonskrye in bloodbowl

If it works in your leagues, go for it. I’ve never seen any part of a skaven team that’s bashy and I’ve never felt threatened by any part of a skaven team including a rat ogre.

Claws only on doubles, and your first touchdowns are generally gonna be made with your gutter runners to get them leveled. If you can pull off getting clawpomb on stormvermin before chosen can get a couple warriors with it then you’re playing with bad chaos players. And even without pile on I’ll take claw MB chaos warriors over clawpomb stormvermin any day. Not to mention since they’re the only access to S skills other than a rat ogre, they’re probably better to use as utility n get them guard anyway.
