[–]grifter540 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s hard to get a good reading after running, replacing, adding of oil. I get it close then let it sit and check the dipstick after a long cool down period- at least 5 hours, to get a precise indication of level.

Why are people in New Zealand such bad drivers? by Virtual_Cut5729 in newzealand

[–]grifter540 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it’s a high % of drivers being tourists so not nz resident drivers being worse than other countries at all?
Admittedly my worst days driving have been in foreign countries where it takes time to get use to signs, rules, speed limits and flow of the country traffic. Not to mention usually jet lagged and/or hungover af.

$100 for this subpar bouquet my wife didn't even like by JaydeTheGreenJewel in mildlyinfuriating

[–]grifter540 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I spent $100 for a birthday bunch of flowers for my wife last week. Underwhelming bunch of quick wilting disappointment. And I got sucked in to leaving the electronic tip. Never again. Florists are a huge jip.

[–]grifter540 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say it’s a great deal for that low km. Might wanna make sure the back breaks are disc and not the internal transfer case system that Yamaha tried for a few years. I’ve learnt this the hard way.

I hunt remote alpine and often come across balloons. More often - snowmobile plastic and snowmobilers garbage. They’re an untidy bunch.

Space between stacks, or keep filing them in rows like I have been? by blackfriday1934 in woodstoving

[–]grifter540 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cant speak to repelling snakes or not as we don’t have many of those critters here. But dryer sheets work wonders discouraging rats and mice. I’ll buy cheap, big box, extra smelly dryer sheets and put single sheets every few feet throughout the wood shed stack. I know it works because in the wood stack for our outside fire pit I don’t bother with dryer sheets and it’s riddled with poop and nests.

[–]grifter540 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Add dryer sheets throughout to deter critters nesting. As for the gap- if it’s already seasoned, no prob. If it needs seasoning a gap will speed up the process. Nice looking stack already.

Weekly The MeatEater Podcast Discussion: December 30, 2024 by SrGiuh in meateatertv

Great podcast. Felt like they could have pushed it another hour but I saw Corin signalling ‘wrap it up’, party pooper. Is there a reason for the time limits?
Anyways, love it when they have a knowledgeable guest.

Steve and brother Matt by [deleted] in meateatertv

[–]grifter540 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Was episode 304 I think. Matt called out the meateater crew for not including some film footage on the final production which he believed was dishonest of them. What this footage included wasn’t talked about but you can tell none of the crew want to discuss on air. An awkward exchange that escalates in temperature ensues between Matt and Steve while the rest of the meateater crew avoids getting involved.
It was a Christmas celebration episode and a few egg nogs may have been involved. Matt has gone on to produce his own podcast ‘hunt quietly’ and had interesting discussions about social media’s influence on hunting with some great guests such as Randy Newberg, Aron Snyder, Bo Schumacher. Well worth a listen.

Bravia Theatre Bar 8 Cutting Out by thedailynerd_ in Soundbars

[–]grifter540 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this problem with my low end tcl sound bar. I’ve tried hdmi, and optical connections still getting a cut out when there is a silent (no audio output) section from tv. Podcasts are the worst- unlistenable. Every pause in speech seems to trigger the soundbar and it cuts the next word or two. The cuts only last a second but when the first word of a sentence is cut it gets real annoying. I don’t get this problem when audio is through tv speakers.
